Establishment of the Duty Lawyer Service as a Specified Legal Service
Pursuant to section 68(2)(b) of the Legal Services Act 2011, the Secretary for Justice gives notice that the duty lawyer scheme established, under section 156 of the Legal Services Act 1991 and continued under section 46 of the Legal Services Act 2000 shall continue as a Duty Lawyer Service from 1 July 2011, the commencement date of the Legal Services Act 2011.
The Duty Lawyer Service is a “specified legal service” as that expression is defined in section 4 of the Legal Services Act 2011, and to which subpart 2 of Part 3 of that Act applies.
The object of the Duty Lawyer Service is to ensure that there is available in each District Court a sufficient number of lawyers to assist, advise and represent unrepresented defendants charged with an offence.

Forest and Rural Fires Act 1977
Northern Rural Fire District Constitution and Administration Notice 2011
Pursuant to sections 4(1) and 8(1) of the Forest and Rural Fires Act 1977, the National Rural Fire Authority hereby makes the following notice.
Notice
- Title and commencement—(1) This notice is the Northern Rural Fire District Constitution and Administration Notice 2011.
(2) This notice will come into force on 1 July 2011.

Constitution of Northern Rural Fire District—The areas set out in the Schedule to this notice are hereby constituted and declared to be a rural fire district to be known as the Northern Rural Fire District.

Constitution of the Northern Rural Fire District Committee—The Northern Rural Fire District Committee is hereby constituted as a rural fire committee.

Administration of the Northern Rural Fire District—
(1) For the purposes of the Forest and Rural Fires Act 1977, the Northland Rural Fire District shall be administered by the Northland Rural Fire District Committee.
(2) The committee shall consist of a number of members as follows:
(a) One person appointed in writing by the Chief Executive of the New Zealand Forest Owners Association after such consultation as the chief executive considers appropriate with New Zealand Forest Owners Association members with forests within the Northern Rural Fire District;
(b) one person appointed in writing by the Chief Executive of the Te Rununga o Te Rarawa after such consultation as the chief executive considers appropriate with Te Rununga a Iwi o Ngāpuhi;
(c) one person appointed, in writing, by the Far North District Council Chief Executive;
(d) one person appointed, in writing, by the Department of Conservation Director-General;
(e) one person appointed, in writing, by the New Zealand Fire Service National Commander; and
(f) one person appointed by the committee as an independent member with recognised governance experience. The independent member will have the same rights as other members of the committee. The term of appointment will be in accordance with the Forest and Rural Fires Regulations 2005.
(3) In the event that any appointment to be made under 4(2)(a) or 4(2)(b) is not carried out within three months of the date by which the appointment should be made, the National Rural Fire Officer may appoint to the committee some fit person(s) who shall represent the interest of the organisations described in 4(2)(a) and 4(2)(b).
Schedule
North Auckland Land District
All those parcels containing 7323.86 square kilometres, more or less, as shown on SO 430084, lodged in the office of the Chief Surveyor, Auckland, but excluding all "fire districts" as defined in section 2 of the Fire Service Act 1975 (for ease of reference that land is also shown on plans numbered NRFA 0709 deposited in the Corporate Office of the New Zealand Fire Service at Wellington).

Revocation of Rural Fire District Notice—The Aupouri Karikari Rural Fire District Notice 1995* is hereby revoked.
