Revocation of a Notice Relating to Classification of Reserves

Under the Reserves Act 1977, the Conservation Support
Manager for the Wellington Conservancy of the Department
of Conservation revokes the notice headed Classification
of Reserves dated the 27th day of March 2008, and published in
the New Zealand Gazette, 3 April 2008, No. 69, page 1921,
and issues the following notice as a fresh notice in its place.

Classification of Reserves and Appointment of Board to Control and Manage

Under the Reserves Act 1977, the Conservation Support
Manager for the Wellington Conservancy of the Department
of Conservation classifies the reserves described in the
Schedule as reserves for recreation purposes and further
declares the reserves to form part of the Whitireia Park
Recreation Reserve to be controlled and managed by the
Whitireia Park Board pursuant to section 30 of the Act.

Classification of a Reserve

Under the Reserves Act 1977, the Acting Community
Relations Manager for the Canterbury Conservancy of the
Department of Conservation hereby classifies the reserve
described in the Schedule as a local purpose (community
buildings) reserve, under the provisions of section 16 of the Act.

Te Ture Whenua Maori Act 1993

Cancelling and Setting Apart Māori Freehold Land as a Māori Reservation

On the recommendation of the Māori Land Court, the Māori
land known as Oraeroa Block in the notice dated the 24th
day of July 2000 and published in the New Zealand Gazette,
17 August 2000, No. 92, page 2290, was set aside as a
Māori reservation.

Pursuant to section 243 of the Resource Management Act
1991, the Franklin District Council approved the subdivision
and as a result the parent title known as Oraeroa Block
became Lot 1 DP 325877 and Lots 2 and 3 DP 325877.

To ensure that the legal description of the Māori reservation
is correct, the Māori Land Court makes a recommendation,
pursuant to section 338(5)(b) of Te Ture Whenua Maori Act
1993, to cancel the said Māori reservation in respect of
Oraeroa Block and, pursuant to section 338(1) of Te Ture
Whenua Maori Act 1993, that the Māori freehold lands
described in the Schedule hereto, are hereby set apart as a
Māori reservation for the purposes of a marae, papakāinga
and burial ground known as Ringaiti and school grounds for
the common use and benefit of the Ngāti Tahinga tribe.
