Felix Donnelly College Board of Trustees Composition

Pursuant to section 95 (1) of the Education Act 1989, I hereby determine the composition of the Felix Donnelly College Board of Trustees.

Membership of the Board

The Felix Donnelly College Board of Trustees shall comprise:

● two trustees appointed by the Minister;

● two trustees appointed by Youthlink and approved by the Minister;

● the principal of Felix Donnelly College;

● one elected staff representative; and

● two representatives co-opted by the board.

This notice takes effect the day after its publication.

Notice of Appointment of a Limited Statutory Manager for the Patea High School Board of Trustees (185)

Pursuant to section 78M of the Education Act 1989, I direct the Secretary for Education to appoint a limited statutory manager for the Patea High School Board of Trustees because of risks to the operation of the school and the educational performance of the students at the school.

The following functions, powers and duties of the board are vested in the limited statutory manager:

● The development and management of effective relationships between the school and its community;

● review of the school’s strategic plan and ensuring implementation of any changes through the annual plan and the principal’s performance objectives; and

● considering options for the future of schooling in Patea as a part of the strategic planning process.

The limited statutory manager must also advise the board on the following:

● Consolidation of all new or changed systems into board management practice.

This notice takes effect the day after the date of publication of this notice.

Notice of Appointment of a Limited Statutory Manager for the Mangakino Area School Board of Trustees (329)

Pursuant to section 78M of the Education Act 1989, I direct the Secretary for Education to appoint a limited statutory manager for the Mangakino Area School Board of Trustees because of risks to the operation of the school and the educational performance of the secondary students.

The following functions, powers and duties of the board are vested in the limited statutory manager:

● Ensuring implementation of the Education Review Office June 2003 review report recommendations in line with an agreed action plan;

● development of an ongoing programme of school-wide self review including effective analysis and improvement systems; and

● personnel management; including appraisal of the principal in line with an established performance agreement

The limited statutory manager must also advise the board on the following:

● Contributing to a viability review of the Year 9–13 section of the school; and

● consolidating all new and improved systems into board management practice.

This notice takes effect the day after the date of publication of this notice.

School Establishment

Pursuant to section 146 of the Education Act 1989, I hereby establish a secondary school for Years 7 to 13 (Forms 1 to 7), to be known as

Stanmore Bay Secondary School

at Stanmore Bay, Whangaparaoa, Auckland.

In its first year, the school will open for instruction with Forms 1 to 3 (Years 7 to 9) students only, and will then build its roll one year level at a time over subsequent years, as shown in the following Schedule.

Merger of Awariki School (2545), Norsewood School (2622), Ormondville School (2632) and Matamau School (2610)

Pursuant to section 156A (1) of the Education Act 1989, I hereby declare that Awariki School (2545), Norsewood School (2622), Ormondville School (2632) and Matamau School (2610) will merge on 31 December 2003.

Norsewood School will be the continuing full primary school.

Merger of Dannevirke North School (2552) and Hillcrest School (2576)

Pursuant to section 156A (1) of the Education Act 1989, I hereby declare that Dannevirke North School (2552) and Hillcrest School (2576) will merge on 31 December 2003.

Hillcrest School will be the continuing full primary school on the Dannevirke North School site.
