(2) In this Amendment, the Direction on Advance Payment of Benefits is called "the direction".

  1. Commencement—(1) This Amendment comes into effect on 1 July 2001.

  2. Amendments consequential on Part 3 of the Social Security Amendment Act 2001 coming into force on 1 July 2001—(1) Clause 7.2.1 of the direction is amended by revoking paragraph (a) and substituting the following paragraph:

"(a) is undertaking, pursuant to the Beneficiary’s job seeker agreement or section 123B of the Act, any job seeker development activity or activity in the community that involves undertaking work; and"

(2) Clause 7.2.1 (d) of the direction is amended by omitting the words "Organised Activity" and substituting the word "activity".

(3) Clause 7.2.4 of the direction is amended by omitting the words "Organised Activity" and substituting the word "activity".

(4) Clause 7.2 of the direction is amended by adding the following subclause:

"7.2.5 In clause 7.2, the terms job seeker agreement, job seeker development activity, and activity in the community have the meanings in section 88A of the Act."

Land Transport Act 1998

Notice of Proposed Land Transport Rule: Vehicle Dimensions and Mass

In accordance with section 161 (2) of the Land Transport Act 1998, the Land Transport Safety Authority (LTSA), on behalf of the Minister of Transport, gives notice of his intention to make a rule concerning vehicle dimensions and mass, and advises that the proposed Land Transport Rule: Vehicle Dimensions and Mass is available for public comment.

This draft legislation proposes dimension and mass limits to contribute towards the safe operation of vehicles on New Zealand’s roads.

The LTSA is also making available for public comment an issues paper on Transit New Zealand Proposals for Higher Mass and Dimension Limits.

This paper contains details of a submission on mass and dimension limits for heavy vehicles that has been made by Transit New Zealand.

A copy of the draft rule and of the issues paper may be obtained by calling the LTSA Help Desk on Freephone 0800 699 000 or by visiting the LTSA website at www.ltsa.govt.nz/legislation/sub.html

The draft rule and issues paper are also available for viewing at the LTSA’s 7 regional offices.

Copies of both documents have been made available to groups and individuals who have expressed an interest in the rule.

Submissions on draft Land Transport Rule: Vehicle Dimensions and Mass and on the issues paper close on 3 September 2001.

Pursuant to sections 52 (1) and 52 (3) of the Transport Act 1962 and Regulation 21 (2) of the Traffic Regulations 1976, and pursuant to an authority sub-delegated to me by the Director of Land Transport Safety dated 7 June 2001, I, Lyndon Bryan Hammond, Acting Manager, Safer Roads, give the following notice:

  1. This notice may be cited as the Traffic (Upper Hutt City) Notice 2001.

  2. Those localities and roads within markings identified in the legend of and appearing on the plan LT0148/1, entitled "Speed Restriction Plan Upper Hutt City", and held by the head office of the Land Transport Safety Authority, are declared to be:

(a) closely populated localities at all times, pursuant to section 52 (1) (c) of the Transport Act 1962; or
