are required. Before being cut pre-shuffled cards
shall be either chemmy shuffled and/or riffle
shuffled, but pre-checked cards shall be:

(a) chemmy shuffled;
(b) stacked; and
(c) riffle shuffled.”

Shuffle and Cut of Cards

7.2 Section 7 of this division is hereby amended by inserting
after rule 7.1 the following:

“7.1A Where it is proposed that pre-shuffled decks of
cards be introduced into the game any of the
players may, before the first game in which the
cards are used:

(a) on request, visually inspect the decks of
pre-shuffled cards, or any of them, before
their use; and

(b) require that any decks of cards issued as
pre-shuffled be inspected and mixed in
accordance with section 6, shuffled by the
dealer, and cut in accordance with this
section.”

7.3 Rule 7.6 of this division is hereby deleted and the
following substituted:

“7.6 The casino operator may, after any round of play,
direct that the cards in play at the table be
replaced, in which event the new cards shall be
checked, shuffled and cut in accordance with
sections 6 and 7, except where pre-shuffled cards
are introduced and accepted as such.”

8.0 Division 4—Midi Baccarat

Opening of Table for Gaming

Rule 6.4 of this division is hereby deleted and the following
substituted:

“6.4 Notwithstanding rules 6.1 to 6.3A, pre-checked or
pre-shuffled cards may be used provided they are
secured in a designated area on completion of the
pre-check or pre-shuffle, until such time as they
are required. Before being cut pre-shuffled cards
shall be either chemmy shuffled and/or riffle
shuffled, but pre-checked cards shall be:

(a) chemmy shuffled;
(b) stacked; and
(c) riffle shuffled.”

9.0 Division 5—Baccarat

Opening of Table for Gaming

Rule 6.4 of this division is hereby deleted and the following
substituted:

“6.4 Notwithstanding rules 6.1 to 6.3A, pre-checked or
pre-shuffled cards may be used provided they are
secured in a designated area on completion of the
pre-check or pre-shuffle, until such time as they
are required. Before being cut pre-shuffled cards
shall be either chemmy shuffled and/or riffle
shuffled, but pre-checked cards shall be:

(a) chemmy shuffled;
(b) stacked; and
(c) riffle shuffled.”

Airworthiness Directive

Pursuant to section 72I (3) (a) of the Civil Aviation
Act 1990, and to a delegation from the Director of
Civil Aviation, I, Geoffrey Neil Connor, Safety
Analyst–Continuing Airworthiness, hereby issue the
following airworthiness directive in respect of an aircraft:

DCA/EC135/6

This airworthiness directive shall come into force on
22 March 2001.

Airworthiness directives may be viewed on the CAA web
site (www.caa.govt.nz) or at Aviation House, 1 Market
Grove, Lower Hutt, Wellington.

British Settlements Act 1887

Officer of the Government of Ross

Dependency Appointed

MICHAEL HARDIE BOYS, Governor-General

Background:

A. An Order in Council dated 30 July 1923* (“the
order”) made under the British Settlements Act 1887
(UK) appoints the Governor-General of New Zealand
to be the Governor of the Ross Dependency (“the
Governor”) and vests in the Governor certain powers:

B. The order empowers the Governor to make rules and
regulations for the peace, order, and good
government of the Dependency:

C. Regulations made by the Governor on 14 November
1923† provide that all persons appointed by the
Governor may be empowered to do such things as
may be necessary or desirable to ensure that the laws
in force in the Dependency are duly observed and
complied with in every respect, and to do all things
necessary or expedient for the peace, order, and good
government of the Dependency, and to safeguard and
preserve Her Majesty’s rights and sovereignty over
and in respect of the Dependency:

D. It is now expedient that David Fredrick Leicester
Brice be appointed an officer of the Government of
the Dependency:

Now therefore I, Sir Michael Hardie Boys, the Governor-
General of New Zealand, and as such the Governor of the
Dependency, appoint

David Fredrick Leicester Brice

to be an officer of the Government of the Dependency while
he acts as Senior New Zealand Representative at Scott Base
during the period beginning with this appointment and
ending with the close of 15 October 2001:
