delegate those powers under section 35 of the Submarine Cables and Pipelines Protection Act 1996 to the Director of Maritime Safety by an instrument of delegation dated 26 March 1997.

And whereas, pursuant to section 443 of the Maritime Transport Act 1994, the Director of Maritime Safety did delegate those powers under section 35 of the Submarine Cables and Pipelines Protection Act 1996 to me by an instrument of delegation dated 26 March 1997.

Therefore I, John Norman Keith Mansell, Divisional Manager, Maritime Operations, hereby approve the following equipment to be approved maritime surveillance equipment for the purposes of the Submarine Cables and Pipelines Protection Act 1996.

Approved Maritime Surveillance Equipment:

Global Positioning System Garmin GPS 150

Operated in association with helicopters whilst working in or near the protected area designated “Area 7—Cook Strait” and while under the direct control of or working under instructions given in writing by Transpower New Zealand Limited.

This notice comes into effect on the date of notification in the New Zealand Gazette.

Reserves Act 1977

Classification of a Reserve

Pursuant to the Reserves Act 1977, and to a delegation from the Minister of Conservation, the Community Relations Manager of the Nelson/Marlborough Conservancy of the Department of Conservation, hereby classifies that part of the reserve described in the First Schedule as a scenic (19) (1) (a) reserve, and further, classifies that part of the reserve described in the Second Schedule as a Government purpose (site for administrative buildings) reserve subject to provisions of the Act.

Nelson Land District—Tasman District

4.7403 hectares, more or less; shown marked “A” on S.O. Plan 15619.

Second Schedule

Declaration That Land is a Reserve

Pursuant to the Reserves Act 1977, and to a delegation from the Minister of Conservation, the Waitaki District Council hereby notifies that the following resolution concerning the land described in the Schedule hereto was passed by the Waitaki District Council at its meeting on the 12th day of December 1999.

“That in exercise of the powers conferred on it by section 14 of the Reserves Act 1977, the Waitaki District Council hereby resolves that the land described in the Schedule hereto and held in fee simple for the purposes of public health and recreation, shall be, and is hereby declared to be a recreation reserve within the meaning of the Reserves Act 1977.”
