Pursuant to section 72I (3) (a) of the Civil Aviation Act 1990, and to a delegation from the Director of Civil Aviation, I, Geoffrey Neil Connor, Safety Analyst โ€“ Continuing Airworthiness, hereby issue the following airworthiness directives in respect of aircraft or aeronautical products:

These airworthiness directives shall come into force on 2 July 1999.

Traffic Regulations 1976

Approval of Brake Testing Devices in Accordance With the Requirements of the Traffic Regulations 1976

Pursuant to regulation 88 of the Traffic Regulations 1976, and pursuant to powers delegated to me by the Director of Land Transport Safety, I, Peter Waring, Senior Engineer, Vehicle Policy, hereby approve the brake testing devices specified in Schedule 1 of this notice for the purposes of testing brakes according to the requirements of regulation 68 of the Traffic Regulations 1976, subject to the conditions of Schedule 2 of this notice.

Schedule 1
Nissalco Super-Combi Tester Model M2581.

Schedule 2
The method of calculating brake stopping distance, shown in the Appendix to the instruction manual for the Nissalco Model M2581 brake tester, is not approved as a method of calculating stopping distances in accordance with regulation 68 of the Traffic Regulations 1976.

Transport Act 1962

The Traffic (Manukau City) Notice 1999

Pursuant to sections 52 (2) and 52 (3) of the Transport Act 1962, and regulation 21 (2) of the Traffic Regulations 1976, and pursuant to an authority sub-delegated to me by the Land Transport Safety Authority of New Zealand dated 9 June 1997, I, John Paul Edgar, Manager, Safer Roads, give the following notice:

Notice

(1) This notice may be cited as the Traffic (Manukau City) Notice 1999.

(2) The roads specified in the First Schedule are excluded from the limitation as to speed imposed by section 52 (1) of the Transport Act 1962.

(3) The road specified in the Second Schedule is declared to be a 70 kilometres an hour speed limit area, pursuant to regulation 21 (2) of the Traffic Regulations 1976.

(4) The Traffic (Manukau City) Notice 1997*, and that part of the First Schedule to the Traffic (Manukau City) Notice No. 1 1990** which relates to that section of road specified in the First Schedule hereto, are revoked.

First Schedule

SITUATED within Manukau City at Howick:

Somerville Road from Haven Crest to a point 450 metres measured northerly, generally, along Somerville Road from Whitford Road.

SITUATED within Manukau City at Mangere and Otara Wards:

George Bolt Memorial Drive from a point 350 metres measured southerly, generally, along George Bolt Memorial Drive from Ihumatao Road to Kirkbride Road.
