10.2 Trout landed under the minimum size shall be immediately returned to the water and released.
EASTERN FISH AND GAME REGION

- INTERPRETATION
“Fly fishing” in the Eastern Fish and Game Region means to fish for sports fish with fly rod, fly reel, fly line and artificial fly, with no additional weight to facilitate casting.
“Fly line” in the Eastern Region means any floating or sinking line used to facilitate casting that is greater than 5 metres in length.
“Landmark” means a black, yellow and white ringed post or buoy.
“Set rod” means any assembled rod that is not in physical contact with a licence holder when being used to fish for sports fish.
"Sports fish" in the Eastern Fish and Game Region includes any hybrid of the sports fish species described in the First Schedule.
"Wild rainbow trout" means any rainbow trout not having a fin clip mark or tag.

Lakes Maraetai, Whakamaru, Atiamuri, Ohakuri, Aratiatia up to Huka falls;

The Tiniroto and Putere Lakes;

Lake Rotorua except those waters leading into Ohau Channel
which are inwardly bound by landmarks;

Lakes Okareka, Rotoehu, Rerewhakaaitu, Okaro, Ngahewa,
Ngapouri, Rotomahana, Tikitapu;

Lake Rotoma except for the winter shoreline spawning areas
situated between landmarks at Anaputa Point and Matahi Lagoon,
and the area marked in Manawahe Bay, both extending 200m
offshore;
All year
Those parts of Lake Tarawera designated winter shoreline
fishing areas as follows; (a) between landmarks at either end of the
beach known as the Te Wairoa landing (excluding the Te Wairoa
Stream mouth) and extending 200m offshore; (b) enclosing
Rangiuru Bay between landmarks at Stoney Point and Kariri
Point, and extending 200m offshore, and; (c) between the boat ramp
at the Tarawera Outlet and the landmark at the southern end of Te
Tapahoro bay and extending 200m offshore

That part of Lake Rotoiti designated a winter shoreline fishing
area between landmarks situated at Ruato and Hinehopu and
extending 200m offshore;
All year
That part of Lake Okataina designated a winter shoreline
fishing area between landmarks situated at Te Koutu Point and
west of Okataina Lodge and extending 200m offshore;
All year
The Kaituna River downstream of the Lake Rotoiti flow
control structure;
All year
The Tarawera River downstream of the Tarawera Falls;
All year
The Whakatane River downstream of the Owaka Stream
confluence;
All year
The Waimana River downstream of the Reid Road bridge;
