- SPIN FISHING, ARTIFICIAL FLY FISHING AND BAIT FISHING ONLY WATERS
Spin fishing, artificial fly fishing and bait fishing are the only fishing methods for sports fish allowed in the following waters:
Waikato River
Lake Arapuni
Lake Karapiro
Lake Moanau
Lake Otamatearoa (Muirs)
Lake Ototoa
Lake Parkinson
Lake Tomarata
Lake Waipapa
Lake Whatiuha (Thomsons)
Ohinemuri River downstream from the Victoria Street Bridge at Waihi
Ongarue River downstream from its confluence with the Waimiha Stream
Marokopa River downstream from its confluence with the Mangatuahaua Stream
Moakurara Stream downstream from Mulligans Bridge (Honikiwi Road)
Waihou River downstream from the Okoroire Falls
Waipa River downstream from the State Highway 3 Bridge at Otorohanga
Whanganui River downstream from its confluence with the Whakapapa River
- COARSE FISHING WATERS
8.1 There is no restriction on lures or baits in the following waters:
Mangatawhiri River from the bridge on SH2, to its confluence with the Waikato River
Whangamarino River
All lakes and ponds, excluding any water specified in Sections 6 and 7 of this part of this notice
8.2 In respect to all waters not specified in Section 8.1 of this notice, with the written authorisation of the Manager of the Auckland/Waikato Fish & Game Council in the licence holders possession and available for production on demand, there is no restriction on lures or baits for a licence holder participating in a fishing competition for rudd, perch and tench, provided all other species of sports fish landed must be immediately returned to the waters and released.
8.3 There are no restrictions on the numbers of rods and running lines that a licence holder fishing for perch, tench or rudd may have assembled provided only one of which shall be used for fishing at any one time.
8.4 A roach pole may be used to fish for and take perch, tench and rudd.
- DAILY BAG LIMIT OF KILLED SPORTS FISH
9.1 No more than two trout per day:
Awakino River
Waipa River and its tributaries upstream from the State Highway 3 bridge at Otorohanga
Whakapapa River and its tributaries upstream from the confluence with the Piopiotea Stream
9.2 No bag limit except that only two trout may exceed 30 cm in length:
Waihou River and its tributaries upstream from Okoroire
Waimakariri Stream and its tributaries
9.3 No more than five trout, perch, rudd or tench per day:
All waters except those specified in Section 9.1 and 9.2 of this Schedule
- MINIMUM LENGTH
10.1 The minimum length for trout taken shall be 30 cm in all waters except in the Waihou River upstream from Okoroire and the Waimakariri Stream where there is no minimum length.
