17 SEPTEMBER NEW ZEALAND GAZETTE

The Wairoa River downstream of the Te Reinga Falls;
The Waikaretaheke River downstream of the Piripaua Powerhouse;
The Rangitaiki River downstream of the Otamatea Stream confluence, excluding the 80m below the Aniwhenua Barrage;
Lakes Matahina, Flaxy, and Aniwhenua;
The Aniwhenua, Flaxy and Rangitaiki (Wheao) canals, including the Wheao River downstream of the powerhouse;
Lakes Waikaremona and Waikareiti;
Lake McLaren and the Ruahihi Canal;
The Wairoa River below Lake McLaren;
The Waiau River downstream of the Waikaretaheke River confluence;
The Waioeka River downstream of the Cruen Creek confluence;
The Ngongotaha, Waiteiti, Hamurana and Awahou Streams below the bridges where the Ngongotaha and Hamurana Roads cross these streams;
The Utuhina Stream below the Lake Road bridge;

All year

Those waters flowing into Lake Rotorua (excluding those sections specified above and closed waters) and Lake Waikaremoana;
The waters between landmarks approximately 150m downstream of the Lake Tarawera Outlet and the Tarawera Falls;
All other waters except Closed Season Waters;

1st December to 30th June
1st October to 31st May
1st October to 30th June

3. CLOSED SEASON

No licence holder shall fish for sports fish at any time from the following waters;

3.1 all streams flowing into Lake Tarawera and that portion of the Tarawera River enclosed by landmarks at the Lake Tarawera Outlet and extending approximately 150m downstream to landmarks in the river, otherwise known as the Tarawera Outlet Spawning Sanctuary;

3.2 the Utuhina Stream above the Pukehangi Road bridge and all tributaries of this stream;

3.3 the following streams and their tributaries which flow into Lake Rotorua;
a) the Waiowhiro, Waiohewa, Waingaehe, Waimata and Waikuta Streams;
b) the Hamurana stream above the Hamurana Road bridge;
c) the Awahou Stream above the Hamurana Road bridge;

3.4 all springs, streams, and their tributaries which flow into Lake Waikareiti, and into or from lakes Rotoma, Rotoehu, Rotomahana, Rerewhakaaitu, Rotokakahi, Okareka, Okataina and Rotoiti except the Ohau Channel and the Kaituna River;

3.5 the Rangitaiki River for a distance of 80 metres below the Aniwhenua Barrage;

3.6 the section of the Ruahihi Canal between the landmarks at the southern end of the canal which enclose the artificial spawning bed.

4. AUTHORISED TACKLE

4.1 No licence holder shall fish for sports fish with a set rod unless he or she is fishing from an unanchored boat.

4.2 No licence holder when fishing for sports fish shall use:
a) any hook which has a gape greater than 14mm between the point and the nearest part of the shank
b) any lure having more than one hook, or having a multiple hook, or any fixed assembly of hooks
c) more than 2 lures
d) any lure treated with any medicinal preparation other than a substance used solely to give buoyancy to an artificial fly
e) any downrigger, paravane, other device or weight (other than a running line) designed to sink a lure while trolling;
