Land Transport Act 1993

Notice of Proposed Vehicle Standards Compliance Rule

The Land Transport Safety Authority (LTSA), in accordance with section 10 (1) (a) of the Land Transport Act 1993, gives notice that draft Rule 35001: Vehicle Standards Compliance is available for public comment.

This draft legislation is intended to ensure that all vehicles meet an acceptable level of safety when they enter the New Zealand fleet, if they are modified or their use changes, and throughout their on-road life.

A copy of draft Rule 35001 may be obtained by telephoning the LTSA Help Desk on Freephone 0800 699 000. The draft rule is also available for public viewing at the LTSA’s 7 regional offices. Copies have been sent to the registered interest groups who expressed an interest in the previous draft.

Submissions on draft Rule 35001 close on 30 June 1998.

Traffic Regulations 1976

The Traffic (Franklin District) Notice No. 3, 1998

Pursuant to regulation 21 (2) of the Traffic Regulations 1976, and pursuant to an authority sub-delegated to me by the Land Transport Safety Authority of New Zealand dated 9 June 1997, I, John Paul Edgar, Manager, Safer Roads and Rail, give the following notice:

Notice

(1) This notice may be cited as the Traffic (Franklin District) Notice No. 3, 1998.

(2) The Traffic (Franklin District) Notice No. 2, 1997* is revoked.

(3) This notice shall come into force on the 1st day of June 1998.

Transport (Vehicle and Driver Registration and Licensing) Act 1986

Approval of Course in Map Reading

Pursuant to section 48 (2) (f) of the Transport (Vehicle and Driver Registration and Licensing) Act 1986, and pursuant to a delegation given by the Director of Land Transport Safety in an instrument of delegation dated the 23rd day of December 1996, I, Kevin Nickson, Regional Compliance Officer, Safer People and Operators, hereby approve courses in map reading to be conducted by the following organisation for the purposes of regulation 11 (1) (c) of the Transport (Driver Licensing) Regulations 1987:

Academy Driving School, Whakatane.

Maritime Transport Act 1994

Approved Maritime Surveillance Equipment Under the Submarine Cables and Pipelines Protection Act 1996

Whereas, pursuant to section 441 of the Maritime Transport Act 1994, the Minister of Transport did delegate those powers under section 35 of the Submarine Cables and Pipelines Protection Act 1996 to the Maritime Safety Authority by an instrument of delegation dated 19 March 1997.

And whereas, pursuant to section 442 of the Maritime Transport Act 1994, the Maritime Safety Authority did delegate those powers under section 35 of the Submarine Cables and Pipelines Protection Act 1996 to the Director of Maritime Safety by an Instrument of Delegation dated 26 March 1997.

And whereas, pursuant to section 443 of the Maritime Transport Act 1994, the Director of Maritime Safety did delegate those powers under section 35 of the Submarine Cables and Pipelines Protection Act 1996 to me by an Instrument of Delegation dated 26 March 1997.

Therefore I, John Norman Keith Mansell, Divisional Manager, Maritime Operations, hereby approve the following equipment to be approved maritime surveillance equipment for the purposes of the Submarine Cables and Pipelines Protection Act 1996:

operated in association with marine patrol vessel whilst working in or near the protected area designated “Area 7—Cook Strait” and while under the direct control of or working under instructions given in writing by Transpower New Zealand Limited.

This notice comes into effect on and from the 1st day of June 1998.
