✨ Electoral Boundary Objections

8 MAY NEW ZEALAND GAZETTE 1475

48 002 b,h Objection W A D & J L Wilson

Objects to the inclusion of Waikuku in the proposed Kaikoura Electorate on the grounds of community of interest, topographical features and facilities of communications.

Suggested solution To include Waikuku in the proposed Waimakariri Electorate.

48 003 b,h Objection R Donald MP

Objects to Waikuku being included in the Kaikoura Electorate. Grounds are that the community of interest is obviously to the south.

Suggested solution That Waikuku be put in the proposed Waimakariri Electorate.

49 Waimakariri

49 001 b,h Objection J Miller (Chairperson Banks Peninsula Electorate NZ National Party)

Objects on the grounds that the proposed boundaries do not satisfy four of the statutory requirements – existing boundaries, community of interest, facilities of communications, topographical features.

Suggested solution An adjustment of boundaries be westwards around Christchurch to accommodate population movements. In short a clockwise adjustment to accommodate the change around Christchurch conforms more comfortably with all aspects of section 35 (f) of the Electoral Act 1993. Specifically, Oxford/Fernside move out of the proposed Waimakariri Electorate and be replaced with the part of Papanui currently in Waimakariri.

52 Christchurch Central

52 001 b Objection S D Clark

Objects to the inclusion of Papanui in the proposed Christchurch Central Electorate on the grounds of facilities of communication.

Suggested solution Bishopdale remain within the proposed Ilam Electorate, Papanui remain within the proposed Waimakariri Electorate and the population quota for Christchurch Central be taken up by incorporating Woolston.

52 002 b Objection S Tufuga

Similar to Objection 52/001.

Suggested solution Similar to Objection 52/001.

52 003 b Objection D Flynn-Thompson

Objects to the removal of Papanui from the proposed Waimakariri Electorate on the grounds of community of interest.

Suggested solution To include Bishopdale in the proposed Ilam Electorate. To include Papanui in the proposed Waimakariri Electorate. To include Woolston in the proposed Christchurch Central Electorate.
