1474 NEW ZEALAND GAZETTE No. 63

47

West Coast-Tasman

47 001 b Objection C J Davis & 69 others

Objects to current/boundary between the West Coast/Tasman and Nelson Electorates. Residents south of Wakefield have a community interest with Nelson Electorate.

Suggested solution Move boundary to the top of Spooners Range.

47 002 b Objection Nelson National Party

Objects to the inclusion of areas on the south east side of Pig Valley Road and Church Valley Road Wakefield and the area south of Foxhill in the proposed West Coast-Tasman Electorate on the grounds of community of interest and topographical logic.

Suggested solution Move the boundary as Eastern Hills is the natural boundary for Wakefield residents and Spooners range for Foxhill residents to include these areas in the proposed Nelson Electorate. If population compensation is required, Arthurs Pass can be added to West Coast-Tasman.

47 003 b, h Objection R Donald MP

Objects to the proposed boundary because the eastern boundary with Nelson is currently drawn so that the logical community of interest for the residents of several small valleys running off the Waimea Plains is ignored.

Suggested solution That the current boundary from Wards Pass to Cut Hill on the Moutere Highway be moved so that Church Valley, Pig Valley, Quail Valley, Wairoa Gorge (North and South), 88 Valley and Wai-iti Valley to the south, Pretty Bridge Valley, Trass Valley, Hault Valley and Pigeon Valley to the north and the village and surrounds of Belgrove are all totally within the Nelson Electorate. It is accepted that to achieve tolerance, the Commission would need to shift the eastern Tasman boundary inland of Mapua.

47 004 b Objection G MacLellan on behalf of Nelson Greens

Similar to Objection 47/003.

Suggested solution Similar to Objection 47/003.

48

Kaikoura

48 001 b Objection J Thornton

Objects to the exclusion of 200 Wharfdale Road from the proposed Waimakariri Electorate on the grounds of community of interest with other residents in Lees Valley and topographical features.

Suggested solution To shift the boundary between Waimakariri and Kaikoura to the top of Mt Richardson, or alternatively put all of meshblock 2438400 into the proposed Waimakariri Electorate.
