Objection B & D Black

Objects to the inclusion of Hataitai in the proposed Rongotai Electorate on the grounds of topographical features. The coastline borders Mt Victoria, Roseneath and Hataitai, but only Hataitai is not included in the Wellington Central Electorate.

Suggested solution To include Hataitai in the proposed Wellington Central Electorate.

45 002 b,h Objection NewZealand Labour Party

Objects to the proposed Wellington Central – Rongotai boundary in the Roseneath area, on the grounds that it does not follow appropriate geographical boundaries and also that it does not allow community of interest, from the Roseneath suburb, in the Hataitai – Kilbirnie area.

Suggested solution That the proposed Wellington Central boundary in Roseneath should follow the “green belt” division through the Roseneath area to Point Jerningham. By extending the boundary north along The Crescent, north down Maida Vale Rd and follow Carlton Gore Rd to Oriental Pde.

45 003 b,h Objection Alliance Party

Objects to the exclusion of parts of Newtown from the proposed Rongotai electorate on the grounds that the Newtown streets outside the proposed northern boundary have a community of interest with the rest of Newtown in Rongotai.

Suggested solution That the Wellington Central – Rongotai boundary in Newtown be drawn further north, through Westland Rd and John St, so that the Hospital is in the Rongotai electorate. North of this is a commercial area, which is a more natural break with the residential area of Mt Cook.

Objects to the inclusion of the Ngaio statistical area unit in the proposed Ohariu-Belmont Electorate on the grounds that changes made elsewhere make it necessary to reduce Ohariu-Belmont’s population.

Suggested solution Transfer the Ngaio statistical area unit from the proposed Ohariu-Belmont Electorate into the proposed Wellington Central Electorate.
