That the northern boundary be the 1996 boundary from the sea to the junction of Box Hill and Cockayne Rd. Then down the western side of Cockayne Rd, across Punjab St and down to the Commission’s proposed boundary where that boundary meets Old Porirua Rd.

If the above changes cause the Wellington Central electorate to be above the 5% quota range, then an adjustment be made to the Hataitai boundary to reduce this margin

If it is simply not possible to accept the recommendations contained in this objection, a third option presents itself. This is to let Ngaio and Khandallah fall into Ohariu-Belmont while retaining only Cashmere in Wellington Central (the southern boundary has Hataitai in Wellington Central and Newtown in Rongotai). There is a topographical feature which can be followed from the junction of Onslow Road and the Hutt Road straight up the hill to Cashmere School and up to Agra Crescent where it meets the 1996 boundary and runs back down to the sea along the 1996 boundary.

Objects to the southern boundary from Coromandel St to Connaught Tce in the proposed Wellington Central electorate on the grounds that it does not take account of community of interest. It cuts right through the middle of Newtown and separates Mt Cook from other southern suburbs. It also does not follow topographical features or landmarks.
Suggested solution That the current southern boundary be retained and that the boundary at the south end of Maida Vale Rd be moved either:

to follow Evans Bay Rd to a point below the end of Te Anau Ave and follow the roads up to Alexandra Rd, OR
-
to follow Evans Bay Rd to Hataitai Beach and follow the southern boundary of Area 48 to rejoin the current boundary at Mt Victoria tunnel.
