8 MAY NEW ZEALAND GAZETTE 1471

44 006 b Objection D Wright

Similar to Objection 44/004.

Suggested solution Similar to Objection 44/004 with respect to Mt Cook and Hataitai.

44 007 b Objection J Gill

Objects to the exclusion of Hataitai from the proposed Wellington Central electorate on the grounds that Hataitai has a community of interest with Wellington Central rather than the proposed Rongotai electorate.

Suggested solution To include Hataitai in the proposed Wellington Central electorate.

44 008 b,h Objection New Zealand Labour Party

Objects to the inclusion of Rangiora Rd, Winchester St and Fore St in the proposed Wellington Central electorate on the grounds of their community of interest with other areas of Khandallah in the proposed Ohariu-Belmont electorate.

Suggested solution That the northern boundary follow the ward boundary along Kaiwharawhara Road to the Hutt Road, rather than proceeding north up Old Porirua Road.

44 009 b,h Objection Hon R Prebble MP

  • Objects to the inclusion of parts of Newtown, rather than Hataitai, into the proposed Wellington Central electorate, on the grounds of community of interest, facilities of communication, topographical features and existing boundaries.

  • Also objects to the exclusion of Khandallah and Cashmere from the proposed Wellington Central electorate on similar grounds. Statistics available suggest the socio demographic and economic details show a strong community of interest between Hataitai with Wellington Central, and Newtown with Rongotai. Similar statistics also suggest that Khandallah, Ngaio and Cashmere have a better community of interest fit with Wellington Central than Ohariu-Belmont. Due to quota reasons it is accepted that some of the Khandallah/Ngaio/Cashmere area will have to be excluded from the proposed Wellington Central electorate, but there is no legal or other reason to move more than is necessary to meet quota requirements.

Suggested solutions

  • That the southern boundary include the 1996 boundary through Newtown. Also the boundary line through Hataitai run from the eastern entrance of Mt Victoria tunnel, down Ruahine St to Taupiri St, then down Taupiri St, to Hamilton Rd and down
