✨ Electoral Boundary Objections

1470 NEW ZEALAND GAZETTE No. 63

44

Wellington Central

Note The Opotiki District Council has filed an objection with consequential changes for this electorate. Please see Objection 33/009 (Mahia) for details

44 001 b

Objection N Harrap

Objects to the inclusion of Mt Cook in the proposed Wellington Central Electorate on the grounds that Mt Cook’s community of interest is contiguous with Newtown and the proposed boundary hinders communication within the region. The industrial and commercial buildings in Webb Street also form a natural barrier between Mt Cook and the proposed Wellington Central Electorate.

Suggested solution To include Mt Cook in the proposed Rongotai Electorate.

44 002 b

Objection B & D Black

Similar to Objection 44/001.

Suggested solution Similar to Objection 44/001.

44 003 b

Objection M Dunaytschik

Similar to Objection 44/004.

Suggested solution Reinstate the southern boundary.

44 004 b

Objection A Beazer

Objects to the exclusion of Mt Cook and part of Newtown from the proposed Rongotai Electorate on the grounds that it separates them from neighbouring areas with which there are long standing cultural and community links and which remain in Rongotai. Proposed boundary changes will hinder both cultural and communication interests.

Suggested solutions

  • To include Mt Cook and all of Newtown in the proposed Rongotai Electorate.

  • To include Haitaitai in the proposed Wellington Central Electorate.

44 005 b, h

Objection N J Wilson

Objects to the northern boundary of the proposed Wellington Central Electorate on the grounds that it is based on a geographical feature, Ngaio Gorge, which does not recognise community of interest or the existing boundary. A more logical boundary, consistent with history and other defining features in the proposed electorate, would be a major roadway.

Suggested solution That Cockayne Road be the northern boundary of the proposed Wellington Central Electorate.
