Ohariu-Belmont

43 001 b

Objection W J Cole

Objects to the inclusion of Khandallah and Ngaio in the proposed Ohariu-Belmont Electorate on the grounds that they have no community of interest with Belmont/Ohariu.

Suggested solution To include Khandallah and Ngaio in the proposed Wellington Central Electorate.

43 002 b

Objection P M Duthie

Similar to Objection 43/001.

Suggested solution That Cockayne Road to be northern boundary of the electorate.

43 003 b

Objection G Wong

Similar to Objection 43/001. Also Ngaio has a strong community of interest with Crofton Downs, Chartwell and Wadestown, and Khandallah and Ngaio have traditionally been part of the Wellington Central Electorate.

Suggested solution Ngaio remain in the proposed Wellington Central Electorate.

43 004 b

Objection R Hunter

Similar to Objection 43/003 with respect to community of interest with Crofton Downs, Chartwell, Wadestown and the city. Also there is a natural northern boundary for the proposed electorate that follows Cockayne Road.

Suggested solutions

  • Cockayne Road be the northern boundary of the electorate.
  • To include Mt Cook in the proposed Rongotai Electorate by using the old Island Bay Electorate boundary in the south.
  • To include Hataitai in the proposed Wellington Central Electorate.

43 005 b, h

Objection S Russell (See General 002 for details on this objector’s overall strategy for electorate changes).

Objects to the inclusion of the Haywards statistical area unit in the proposed Ohariu-Belmont Electorate.

Suggested solution Transfer the Haywards statistical area unit from the proposed Ohariu-Belmont Electorate into the proposed Rimutaka Electorate on the grounds that other changes make it desirable to include all of Haywards Road to allow adequate facilities of communication between Whitby and Upper Hutt.

Objects to the inclusion of the Ngaio statistical area unit in the proposed Ohariu-Belmont Electorate.

Suggested solution Transfer the Ngaio statistical area unit from the proposed Ohariu-Belmont Electorate into the proposed Wellington Central Electorate. This is on the grounds that changes made elsewhere make it necessary to decrease Ohariu-Belmont’s population.
