Docket 98/EXE/148, on 2 April 1998, the director granted an exemption to Alpine Fighter Collection (AFC), from the requirement of Civil Aviation Rule 47.101 only in respect of aircraft North American P-51D, S/N 44-73420 aircraft registration mark ZK-PLI, provided that:

(1) the identification plate required by Civil Aviation Rule 47.119 is displayed on the said aircraft; and

(2) only the following paint scheme is displayed on the said aircraft:

(a) medium green upper;
(b) grey lower;
(c) red and yellow striped spinner;
(d) red and yellow checker board on nose;
(e) tail number “413573”;
(f) “B6B” on either side of the insignia on the fuselage;
(g) black and white stripes from the top of the fuselage insignia on one side around under the fuselage to the top of the insignia on the other side; and
(h) the said aircraft is only operated in New Zealand.

This exemption shall apply until the 31 May 1998 or until withdrawn in writing by the director to Alpine Fighter Collection (AFC), whichever occurs first.

Docket 98/EXE/156, on 7 April 1998, the director granted an exemption to the aircraft Cessna 172K, serial number R.1723249, registration mark ZK-FGF from the requirement in CAR 91.505 (a) (1) only in respect of one flight to be carried out between 7 April 1998 and 17 April 1998, for the purpose of training an aerial photography camera operator provided that:

(a) only one person without a seat is carried;
(b) for take-off and landing the person is seated facing forward on an aircraft seat cushion positioned on the floor at the rear of the cabin, and is restrained by a standard rear seat-belt, adjusted to suit; and
(c) the aircraft is within its Centre of Gravity limits from take-off, and remains so throughout the flight to final landing.

This exemption shall apply until the 17 April 1998 or until withdrawn in writing by the director, whichever occurs first.

Docket 98/EXE/157, on 7 April 1998, the director granted an exemption to HeavyLift Cargo Airlines Limited from the requirement that no person shall perform a foreign air transport operation except under the authority of, and in accordance with, a foreign air operator certificate issued under Part 129; provided that:

(a) the aircraft operated by HeavyLift Cargo Airlines Limited for the foreign air transport operation is an Antonov AN124-100 type aircraft, Russian registration RA82043;
(b) HeavyLift Cargo Airlines Limited carries out the foreign air transport operation under the authority of an Air Operator’s Certificate issued by the United Kingdom and in accordance with the operator’s specifications; and
(c) the foreign air transport operation is restricted to that necessary for the delivery of electrical transformers required to maintain electricity supply in Auckland.

This exemption shall apply until the 9 April 1998, or until withdrawn in writing by the director to HeavyLift Cargo Airlines Limited.

Docket 98/EXE/32, on 7 April 1998, the director has withdrawn exemption 97/EXE/32 granted on 26 March 1997, that all persons operating an aircraft requiring an Annual Review of Airworthiness in accordance with 91.619 (a) be exempted from the requirement of Civil Aviation Rule 91.619 (b).

Docket 98/EXE/145, on 3 April 1998, the director granted an exemption to each powered aircraft with an airworthiness certificate, from the requirement of Civil Aviation Rule 91.509 (a) (15).

This exemption shall apply until the 31st day of December 1998, or until withdrawn in writing by the director.

Docket 98/EXE/146, on 1 April 1998, the director granted an exemption to all holders of inspection authorisations from the requirement in Civil Aviation Rule 43.153 (a) (1) provided that before certifying that the annual review of airworthiness has been carried out, each holder of a certificate of inspection authorisation shall ensure that the aircraft conforms with its appropriate military type design, including any modification, only with respect to:
