Notice of Proposed Light-vehicle Brakes Rule
The Land Transport Safety Authority (LTSA), in accordance with section 10 (1) (a) of the Land Transport Act 1993, gives notice that draft Rule 32014 : Vehicle Standards (Light-vehicle Brakes) is available for public comment.
This draft legislation is intended to ensure that all light vehicles have brakes that meet an acceptable level of safety when fitted, and throughout their on-road life. The rule also applies to the brakes on trailers towed by light vehicles.
A copy of draft rule 32014 may be obtained by calling the LTSA Help Desk on Freephone 0800 699 000. The draft rule is also available for viewing at the LTSA’s seven regional offices. Copies have been sent to the registered interest groups who expressed an interest in this draft rule.
Submissions on draft rule 32014 close on 27 November 1998.

Traffic Regulations 1976
The Traffic (Franklin District) Notice No. 5, 1998
Pursuant to regulation 21 (2) of the Traffic Regulations 1976, and pursuant to an authority sub-delegated to me by the Land Transport Safety Authority of New Zealand dated 9 June 1997, I, Robert Albert Gibson, Acting Manager, Safer Roads, give the following notice:

(1) This notice may be cited as the Traffic (Franklin District) Notice No. 5, 1998.
(2) The road specified in the Schedule is declared to be a 70 kilometres an hour speed limit area pursuant to regulation 21 (2) of the Traffic Regulations 1976. This notice shall come into force on the 22nd day of October 1998.

SITUATED within Franklin District at Port Waikato:
Port Waikato Waikaretu Coast Road: From a point 500 metres measured southerly, generally along Port Waikato Waikaretu Coast Road from Maunsell Road to a point 900 metres measured southerly, generally along Port Waikato Waikaretu Coast Road from Maunsell Road.

The Traffic (Western Bay of Plenty District) Notice 1998
Pursuant to section 52 of the Transport Act 1962 and regulation 21 (2) of the Traffic Regulations 1976, and pursuant to an authority sub-delegated to me by the Land Transport Safety Authority of New Zealand dated 9 June 1997, I, Robert Albert Gibson, Acting Manager, Safer Roads, give the following notice:

(1) This notice may be cited as the Traffic (Western Bay of Plenty District) Notice 1998.
(2) Those localities and roads shown within markings identified in the legend of and appearing on the plan numbered LT9825/1, entitled “Western Bay of Plenty District Roading Speed Restrictions at Waihi Beach” held by the head office of the Land Transport Safety Authority, are declared to be closely populated localities at all times, pursuant to section 52 (1) (c) of the Transport Act 1962; except where declared:
(a) as 70 kilometres an hour speed limit areas or limited speed zones pursuant to regulation 21 (2) of the Traffic Regulations 1976; or
(b) excluded from the limitation as to speed imposed by section 52 (1) of the Transport Act 1962, pursuant to section 52 (2) of the Transport Act 1962,
as may be ascertained from the legend. The plan and legend are hereby incorporated into this notice.
(3) Those parts of the Traffic (Western Bay of Plenty District) Notice No. 1, 1991 relating to roads at Athenree, Bowentown and Waihi Beach and Island View are revoked.
