3. Daily bag limit (Refer First schedule 6.1)
4.1 Brown trout.
The following waters shall have a bag limit of two trout
Murray Creek
Harris Creek
Duck Creek
Ohikanui River
Waitahu River
Larrys Creek
Stony Creek
Karamea River and tributaries (above cableway at mouth of lower gorge)
Mokihinui River and tributaries (upstream of cableway below Welcome Creek.)
Rough River
Haupiri River
Crooked river
Orangipuku river
Bruce stream
Big River
Moonlight River
All other waters shall have a bag limit of 4 trout.
4.2 Salmon
All waters 1 salmon
4.3 Perch
All waters No limit
4.4 Rainbow trout
All waters 2 trout
5. Fish length
The minimum length for trout and salmon in the following waters shall be 250 mm;
Lake Mapourika
Lake Paringa
Lake Moeraki
Lake Ellery
In all other waters there shall be no minimum length

1. INTERPRETATION
In this notice
“Fly Fishing” in the Central South Island Region means to fish for sportsfish with an artificial fly and addition of weight to the line may be in the form of a plastic bubble only, except in Lake Emily where no additional weight other than the necessary weight of line, cast and fly may be used.
“Ashburton Lakes” means Lakes Clearwater, Denny, Donn, Emily, Emma, Heron, Maori Lakes, Roundabout, Spider, and their tributaries but does not include Lake Camp.
“Upper Waitaki Lakes” means Lakes Aviemore, Benmore, Middleton, Ohau, Ruataniwha including Wairepo Arm and Kellands Pond, Pukaki, and Tekapo.
“Upper Waitaki Lakes Tributaries” means tributaries to Lakes Aviemore, Benmore, Middleton, Ohau, Ruataniwha including Wairepo Arm and Kellands Ponds, Pukaki, and Tekapo except for the Ahuriri River upstream of and including Longslip Creek and the Tekapo River downstream of the lower powerlines across the river.
“Waitaki Hydro Canals” means Ohau ‘B’–Ohau ‘C’, Pukaki–Ohau, Ruataniwha–Ohau ‘B’ and Tekapo–Pukaki canals.
“Winter Fishing Rivers” means the Ashburton, Rangitata, Opihi, Pareora, Waitaki, and Kakanui Rivers below their SH 1 Bridges and does not include their tributaries.
