COARSE FISHING WATERS

8.1

There is no restriction on lures or baits in the following waters:
Whanganamarino River
Mangatawhiri River from the bridge on SH2. to its confluence with the Waikato River
All lakes and ponds. excluding any water specified in Sections 6 and 7 of this part of this notice

8.2

In respect to all waters not specified in Section 8.1 of this notice, with the written authorisation of the Manager of the Auckland/Waikato Fish & Game Council in the licence holders possession and available for production on demand, there is no restriction on lures or baits for a licence holder participating in a fishing competition for rudd, perch and tench, provided all other species of sports fish landed must be immediately returned to the waters and released

8.3

There are no restrictions on the numbers of rods and running lines that a licence holder fishing for perch, tench or rudd may have assembled provided only one of which shall be used for fishing at any one time

8.4

A roach pole may be used to fish for and take perch, tench and rudd.

DAILY BAG LIMIT OF KILLED SPORTS FISH

Whakapapa River and its tributaries from its source to the confluence with the Piopiotea Stream
2 trout or salmon

Awakino River
2 trout or salmon

All other waters
5 trout or salmon
5 perch, rudd or tench

MINIMUM SIZE

10.1

The minimum size for trout or salmon taken in the following waters shall be 220mm:

Lake Pupuke
Lake Moananui
Lake Tomarata
Lake Ototoa
Lake Whatihua (Thomsons Lake)
Lake Otamatearoa (Muirs Lake)
Waihou River
Waimakariri Stream

In all other waters the minimum size shall be 300mm

10.2

Trout or salmon landed under the minimum size shall be immediately returned to the water and released

EASTERN FISH AND GAME REGION

Reference to Description Gazette No. 83 of 24 May 1990 at page 1861 (SO Plan 58495)

1. INTERPRETATION

“Fly fishing” in the Eastern Fish and Game Region means to fish for sports fish with fly rod, fly reel, fly line and artificial fly, but with no additional weight to facilitate casting

“Landmark” means a black, yellow and white ringed post or buoy

“Set rod” means any assembled rod that is not in physical contact with a licence holder when being used to fish for sports fish

“Spinner” does not include any lure which exceeds 40 grams in weight.

“Sports fish” in the Eastern Fish and Game Region includes any hybrid of the sports fish species described in the First Schedule
