Declaration
The Order in Council under section 12 of the Submarine Cables and Pipelines Protection Act 1996 entitled the Submarine Cables and Pipelines Protection Order 1992 shall not apply in respect of the following ships or vessels:
Seasurveyor
Seaworker
Sabbatical
Tangaroa
Rangitahi
Matuku
Lady Elizabeth III
Skaggerak
Pacific Ariki
Flinders Tide
and workboats, zodiacs and small craft associated with any of those vessels whilst working in the protected areas designated “Area 7-Cook Strait” for the purpose of carrying work on the laying, investigating, repairing or inspecting the Cook Strait Power Cables; including patrolling the protected area; and including the removal or placement of any material, equipment, or other matter from or in the area of the cables and while under the direct control of or working under instructions given in writing by Transpower New Zealand Limited for the period required by Transpower New Zealand Limited or for the period required to complete any work.
This notice comes into effect on and from the 15th day of June 1997.

Approved Maritime Surveillance Equipment Under the Submarine Cables and Pipelines Protection Act 1996
Whereas, pursuant to section 441 of the Maritime Transport Act 1994, the Minister of Transport did delegate her power under section 35 of the Submarine Cables and Pipelines Protection Act 1996 to the Maritime Safety Authority by an Instrument of Delegation dated 19 March 1997.
And whereas, pursuant to section 442 of the Maritime Transport Act 1994, the Maritime Safety Authority did delegate those powers under section 35 of the Submarine Cables and Pipelines Protection Act 1996 to the Director of Maritime Safety by an Instrument of Delegation dated 26 March 1997.
And whereas, pursuant to section 443 of the Maritime Transport Act 1994 the Director of Maritime Safety did delegate those powers under section 35 of the Submarine Cables and Pipelines Protection Act 1996 to me by an Instrument of Delegation dated 26 March 1997.
Therefore I, Thomas Edwin Law, Harbours Advisor, hereby approve the following equipment to be approved maritime surveillance equipment for the purposes of the Submarine Cables and Pipelines Protection Act 1996:
