- I, Grant Stewart Ellis Milne, Secretary for Transport, give the following notice:
Notice
(1) This notice may be cited as The Traffic (Tasman District) Notice 1997.
(2) The localities specified in the First Schedule are declared to be closely populated localities at all times for the purposes of section 52 of the Transport Act 1962.
(3) The road specified in the Second Schedule is declared to be a 70 kilometre an hour speed limit area, pursuant to regulation 21 (2) of the Traffic Regulations 1976.
(4) That part of The Traffic (Tasman District) Notice No. 1, 1991* which relates to the roads in the First Schedule below is revoked.
First Schedule
SITUATED within Tasman District at Mapua
- Higgs Road.
- Jessie Street.
- Viewland Place.
Second Schedule
SITUATED within Tasman District at Hope
- Ranzau Road West: from No. 6 State Highway (Blenheim–Invercargill via Nelson and Greymouth) to Pugh Road.

Maritime Transport Act 1994
Declaration Under the Submarine Cables and Pipelines Protection Act 1996
Whereas, pursuant to section 441 of the Maritime Transport Act 1994, the Minister of Transport did delegate her power under section 12 (6) of the Submarine Cables and Pipelines Protection Act 1996 to the Maritime Safety Authority by an Instrument of Delegation dated 19 March 1997.
And whereas, pursuant to section 442 of the Maritime Transport Act 1994, the Maritime Safety Authority did delegate those powers under section 12 (6) of the Submarine Cables and Pipelines Protection Act 1996 to the Director of Maritime Safety by an Instrument of Delegation dated 26 March 1997.
And whereas, pursuant to section 443 of the Maritime Transport Act 1994 the Director of Maritime Safety did delegate those powers under section 12 (6) of the Submarine Cables and Pipelines Protection Act 1996 to me by an Instrument of Delegation dated 26 March 1997.
Therefore I, Thomas Edwin Law, Harbours Advisor, hereby make the following declaration:
Declaration
The Order in Council under section 12 of the Submarine Cables and Pipelines Protection Act 1996, entitled the Submarine Cables and Pipelines Protection Order 1992, shall not apply in respect of the following ships or vessels:

- ASEAN Restorer
- Sir Eric Sharp
- Pacific Guardian
- Cable Enterprise
- Seaspread
- CS Sovereign
- CS Monarch

- Cable Venture
- Cable Installer
- CS Nexus
- Cable Innovator
- Long Lines
- Charles L Brown
- Global Link
- Global Sentinel
- Global Mariner
- Coastal Connector
and ROV, workboats, zodiacs and small craft associated with any of those vessels whilst working in the protected areas for the purpose of carrying work on the laying, investigating, repairing or inspecting the cables; including patrolling a protected area; and including the removal or placement of any material, equipment, or other matter from or in the area of the cables and while under the direct control of or working under instructions given in writing by Telecom New Zealand Limited for the period required by Telecom New Zealand Limited or for the period required to complete any work.
This notice comes into effect on and from the 1st day of July 1997.
