The Tiniroto and Putere Lakes;
Lake Rotorua except those waters leading into Ohau Channel which are inwardly bound by landmarks:
Lakes Okareka, Rotoehu, Rerewhakaaitu, Okaro, Ngahewa, Ngapouri, Rotomahana, Tikitapu;

Lake Rotoma except for the winter shoreline spawning areas situated between landmarks at Anaputa Point and Matahi Lagoon and the area marked in Manawahe Bay both extending 200 m offshore;

That part of Lake Tarawera designated a winter shoreline fishing area between landmarks at either end of the beach known as the Te Wairoa landing and extending 200 m offshore;

That part of Lake Rototi designated a winter shoreline fishing area between landmarks situated at Ruato and Hinehopu and extending 200 m offshore;

That part of Lake Okataina designated a winter shoreline fishing area between landmarks situated at Te Koutu Point and west of Okataina Lodge and extending 200 m offshore;

The Kaituna River downstream of the Lake Rotorua flow control structure;
The Tarawera River downstream of the Tarawera Falls;
The Whakatane River downstream of the Owaka Stream confluence;
The Waimana River downstream of the Reid Road bridge;
The Wairoa River downstream of the Te Reinga Falls;
The Waikaretaheke River downstream of the Piripaua Powerhouse;
The Rangitaiki River downstream of the Otamatea Stream confluence, excluding the 80 m below the Aniwhenua Barrage;
Lakes Matahina, Flaxy, and Aniwhenua;
The Aniwhenua, Flaxy and Rangitaiki (Wheao) canals, including the Wheao River downstream of the powerhouse;
Lakes Waikaremoana and Waikareiti;
Lake McLaren and the Ruahihi Canal;
The Wairoa River below Lake McLaren;
The Wairau River downstream of the Waikaretaheke River confluence;
The Waioeka River downstream of the Cruen Creek confluence;
The Ngongotaha, Waiteiti, Hamurana and Awahou Streams below the Ngongotaha and Hamurana Road bridges;
The Utuhina Stream below the Lake Road bridge;

Those waters flowing into Lake Rotorua (excluding those specified above and closed waters) and Lake Waikaremoana;

The waters between landmarks approximately 150m downstream of the Lake Tarawera Outlet and the Tarawera Falls;

3. Closed Season

No licence holder shall fish for sports fish at any time from the following waters;

3.1 all streams flowing into Lake Tarawera and that portion of the Tarawera River enclosed by landmarks at the Lake Tarawera Outlet and extending approximately 150 m downstream to landmarks in the river, otherwise known as the Tarawera Outlet Spawning Sanctuary;

3.2 the Utuhina Stream above the Pukehangi Road bridge and all tributaries of this stream;

3.3 the following streams and their tributaries which flow into Lake Rotoiti;
a) the Waiowhiro, Waiohewa, Waingaehe, Waimata and Waikuta Streams;
b) the Hamurana stream above the Hamurana Road bridge;
c) the Awahou Stream above the Hamurana Road bridge;

3.4 all springs, streams, and their tributaries which flow into Lake Waikareiti, and into or from lakes Rotoma, Rotoehu, Rotomahana, Rerewhakaaitu, Rotokakahi, Okareka, Okataina and Rotoiti except the Ohau Channel;

3.5 the Rangitaiki River for a distance of 80 metres below the Aniwhenua Barrage;

3.6 All waters in which trout are held in captivity for display, rearing, or other purposes, or from within a distance of 80 metres from such waters or other such distances as defined by landmarks.

4. Authorised Tackle

4.1 No licence holder shall fish for sports fish except by using a single rod and running line.

4.2 No licence holder when fishing for sports fish shall use
a) any lead or weight (other than hooks as permitted elsewhere in this notice) attached as to hang below any lure
b) any hook which has a gape greater than 14 mm between the point and the nearest part of the shank
c) any lure having more than one hook, or having a multiple hook, or any fixed assembly of hooks
d) more than 2 lures
e) any lure treated with any medicinal preparation other than a substance used solely to give buoyancy to an artificial fly
f) any downrigger or paravane;
g) any gaff or landing hook;
h) any unsportsmanlike device or gear;
i) any electric fishing gear, except for the purposes of duly authorised scientific investigations or data collection;
j) any preparation to attract fish;
k) any narcotic, poisonous substance or liquid injurious to fish;
l) any stroke hauling or foul hooking gear.

4.3 No licence holder when fishing for sports fish shall have
a) more than one assembled rod and running line under their control,
b) any spear, spear gun or pointed missile (other than a bullet).

4.4 Any metal cored or wire line may be used only in the waters of Lake Rotoma or those parts of Lake Okataina or Lake Tarawera which lie outside of a radius 200 metres from the centre of the mouth or mouths of every stream.
