3.20 Part 8.0 of this division is hereby amended by inserting, after rule 8.10, the following rule:
“8.10A In relation to a way bet receipt ticket, each way shall be treated as an individual receipt ticket and the amount of the win paid accordingly.”.

3.21 This division is hereby amended by deleting part 12.
Division III—Electronic Gaming Machines
Interpretation
4.1 Part 1.0 of this division is hereby amended by:
(a) deleting, from the definition of “Token”, the word “token” and substituting the word “chip”;
(b) inserting, in the definition of “Tokenisation” after the word “token”, the words “bank note,”; and
(c) inserting, in the definition of “Unit” after the word “coin”, the words “, bank note,”.
Operation of Electronic Gaming Machines
4.2 Part 3.0 of this division is hereby amended by inserting, after rule 3.4, the following rule:
“3.4A Bank notes of the appropriate denomination may be inserted into all gaming machines that accept bank notes to obtain credits at any time unless:
(a) the machine is showing an alarm condition or a payout is in progress; or
(b) the machine offers, and the player has selected, a ‘cash mode’, whereby:
(i) the insertion of a note into a note acceptor device will result in the equivalent in value of that note being dispensed as coins or tokens rather than accumulating to the game credit meter; and
(ii) game win amounts are paid directly from the machine to the player rather than being credited to the game credit meter”.
4.3 Rule 3.6 of this division is hereby amended by inserting, after the word “coins”, the words “, bank notes”.
4.4 Rule 3.9 of this division is hereby amended by inserting, after the word “or”, the words “, unless the cash out mode described in rule 3.4A is available and has been selected”.
4.5 Rule 3.14 of this division is hereby amended by inserting, after the word “coins”, the words “, bank notes”.
Payouts
4.6 Rule 4.1 of this division is hereby amended by inserting, after the word “by”, the words “, unless the cash out mode described in rule 3.4A is available and has been selected”.
Rules Specific to Video Spinning Reel Games
4.7 Rule 9.1 of this division is hereby amended by deleting the words “coins or tokens or wager credits”, and substituting “coins, tokens or bank notes (whichever the machine accepts), or wager credits”.
Division IV—Gaming and Monitoring Equipment Standards
Casino Operator Requirements
5.1 Part B.1 of this division is hereby amended by inserting in the table of contents, after the words “B.3.3. Tokens”, the words “B.3.4. Valid Notes”.
5.2 Part B.3 of this division is hereby amended by inserting, after section B.3.3., the following section:
“B.3.4. Valid Notes
The Authority may accept the use of bank notes instead of or in addition to coins and/or tokens for gaming machines provided the gaming machine is fitted with a note acceptor device that complies with all of the applicable requirements of this division, and provided the machine and associated equipment are adapted to comply with all of the applicable requirements relating to the acceptance by such machines of bank notes.
a. A note acceptor device must be capable of discriminating between valid and invalid notes.
b. Valid notes include all legal New Zealand note currency and casino vouchers approved for acceptance into note acceptor devices by the Authority.
c. Casino vouchers may include numeric and textual images and printing, bar codes, hollerith patterns or other such approved encoding to indicate the value of each voucher.
d. Casino vouchers may be generated by an EGM in circumstances such as large cash payouts and jackpot wins. Technical requirements for generation of casino vouchers by EGMs are not yet covered in this document but will need to be added before an implementation of casino vouchers is developed.
e. Casino vouchers may be pre-printed forms issued by the casino via manual methods.
Gaming Floor Equipment Requirements
5.3 Part C.1 of this division is hereby amended by:
(a) deleting from the table of contents the words “C.2.2.1.1. Coin/Note Acceptance Devices”; and substituting the words “C.2.2.1.1. Coin Acceptance Devices”;
(b) inserting in the table of contents, after the words “C.2.2.4.6. Mechanical Meters”, the words “C.2.2.5. Note Acceptor Devices”, followed by “C.2.2.5.1. Access to Note Acceptor Devices”; and
(c) inserting in the table of contents, after the words “C.3.2.14.5. Meter Overflow”, the words “C.3.2.14.6. Note Acceptors”.
5.4 Section C.2.2.1.1. of this division is hereby amended by:
(a) deleting from the title the word “/Note”; and
(b) deleting, from paragraphs a., b. and d., the words “or notes” wherever they appear.
5.5 Part C.2 of this division is hereby amended by inserting, after section C.2.2.4.6., the following sections:
“C.2.2.5. Note Acceptor Devices
a. A note acceptor device must be electronically based and be designed to ensure that it accepts only valid notes and rejects all others.
b. Once set, the note acceptor device must be protected from any form of simple adjustment which leads to deterioration of the note acceptor accuracy and note discrimination qualities or performance.
c. In particular the adjustment of the tolerance level for accepting notes of varying quality, or the alteration of any of the possible checking procedures, is prohibited in the field. If a reader has multiple tolerance levels then the ability to switch to lower levels is to be disabled.
d. Note acceptor devices must incorporate sophisticated detection methods to validate notes by multiple evaluation methods (eg. magnetic, ink colour, density).
e. Note acceptor devices must be constructed in a manner that protects against vandalism, abuse or fraudulent use.
