the 17th day of June 1996, post to each beneficiary shown on the roll of beneficiaries as entitled to vote at the election—
(i) A printed ballot paper setting out the full names of each candidate for election, the method of marking the ballot paper to indicate the beneficiary’s preference, the address to which the ballot paper is to be returned, and the latest time for its return; and
(ii) The declaration form required by regulation 10 of the Maori Trust Boards Regulations 1985:

(e) Ballot papers shall, not later than the 17th day of July 1996, be posted to or lodged with the Returning Officer appointed for the purpose of the election by the Minister:

(f) The Secretary of the Whakatohea Maori Trust Board shall, not later than the 31st day of July 1996, forward to the Chief Executive of the Ministry of Maori Development the names of the persons elected as members of the Whakatohea Maori Trust Board:

(g) Subject to paragraphs (a) to (f) of this clause, the provisions of the Maori Trust Boards Act 1955 shall apply to and in respect of the election.

Explanatory Note
This note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect.

This order—
(a) Declares invalid an election of members of the Whakatohea Maori Trust Board that was held in November 1993; and
(b) Provides for the holding of a fresh election of members of the Whakatohea Maori Trust Board.

Notice Advising of a Change in the Rate of Interest Applicable to Tax in Dispute

Pursuant to section 120 (5) of the Tax Administration Act 1994, notice is hereby given that the rate of interest applicable to tax in dispute will be changed from the current 7% to a higher rate of 9% from 1 April 1996. This change reflects the increase in market interest rates since the last adjustment in March 1994.

Traffic Regulations 1976

Exemption From Specified Requirements of the Traffic Regulations 1976—Combination Stop/Indicator Lights

Pursuant to regulation 90 (1) of the Traffic Regulations 1976, and pursuant to the powers delegated to me by the Director of Land Transport Safety Authority, I, Michael Joseph Small, Senior Vehicle Compliance Officer, hereby exempt the vehicles specified in Schedule 1 from the requirements in Schedule 2 provided that the vehicles comply with the conditions in Schedule 3.

Schedule 1
Vehicles of American origin with stop and indicator lighting systems that fully comply with the appropriate American FMVSS standards.

Schedule 2
Exemption from regulation 61 (1) (b) of the Traffic Regulations 1976.

Schedule 3
Conditions

  1. The vehicle is fitted with 2 stop lights, one each side of the rear of the vehicle.

  2. The operation of the stop lights may be overridden by the direction indicator system so that, at any one time 1 stop light will operate as a direction indicator.

  3. The stop and direction indicator system must not be modified from original design at the time when the vehicle was first registered, except in the case of additional wiring to accommodate trailer wiring/lighting.

  4. This exemption may be revoked at any time.
