No. 24
April 1997 inclusive, Canada Geese may be hunted or killed 24 hours per day during the specified open season.
Decoy limit:
Duck decoys: (a) 4 May to 12 May, both days inclusive, no person, or persons sharing a stand, shall use more than 30 duck decoys. No duck decoys shall be placed within 50 metres of those placed by any other hunter or stand.
(b) 13 May to 21 July - no limit.
Goose, black swan and all other game species: No limit
Special Conditions

No hut, mudhole, stand, hide, shelter, maimai, boat, or cylinder or other contrivance shall be used for the hunting or killing of game in any part of Lake Ellesmere at which the water is of a depth greater than 60 cm, excepting such areas as may be decided upon by the North Canterbury Fish and Game Council, provided that nothing in this special condition shall prevent any person using any vessel for the purpose of retrieving game that has been legally killed or wounded.

It shall be an offence for any person to wilfully leave on the hunting ground the bodies or parts of bodies of black swan or other game shot in the North Canterbury Fish and Game Region.

Staking of mai-mais in the North Canterbury Fish and Game Region is 2 weeks before opening weekend, except on boundary areas where 4 weeks applies.

Definition of Areas
Area A: All that part of the Region encompassing Lake Wainono and Wainono Reserve and bounded to the north by Hook Beach Road, the west by SH1, the south by Poingdestres Road and the east by the Pacific Ocean.
Area B: That part of the bed of the Waitaki River between Lake Waitaki Dam and the sea.
Area C: That part of the Region not included in Area A and Area B.

Decoy limit: Lake Wainono and the Wainono Reserve 25; rest of region, no limit.
Special Conditions
- No person shall wilfully leave on the hunting ground the bodies or parts of bodies of black swan or other game shot in this region.
