but shall not be within 200 metres of any other hunting stand.

  1. There shall be a closed season for Canada goose on the Wairau Lagoons, as defined in Area G from 30 September 1996 until 26 November 1996 inclusive.

Declaring an Open Season for Game in Estuaries and off shore islands outside the Nelson-Marlborough Fish and Game Region for the 1996 Game Season.

An open season is declared, subject to the conditions specified hereto and in the first Schedule, in the following specified areas:

  • D’Urville Island: herein after named the D’Urville Open Game Area and being that area encompassing D’Urville Island in it’s entirety.
  • Waimea and Moutere Inlets: herein after named the Waimea/Moutere Inlet Open Game Area and being an area that is enclosed between the boundary of the Nelson-Marlborough Fish and Game Region and a line connecting the points on that boundary passing through the western point of Tahunanui Beach and Moutere Bluff and Port Motueka.
  • Ruataniwha Inlet: herein after named Ruataniwha Inlet Open Game Area and being an area enclosed between the boundary of the Nelson-Marlborough Fish and Game Region and a line passing through Gibbstown and Taimatca Point.
  • Whanganui Inlet: herein after named the West Haven Open Game Area and being an area that is enclosed between the boundary of the Nelson-Marlborough Fish and Game Region and a line connecting the points on that boundary passing through Melbourne Point and Moki Point.

Conditions:

  1. Game may only be hunted in the D’Urville, Waimea/Moutere, Ruataniwha and West Haven Open Game Area(s) in compliance with conditions specified for the Nelson-Marlborough Fish and Game Region 1996 open season for game.

  2. Any licence authorising the holder to hunt or kill game within the Nelson-Marlborough Fish and Game Region for the 1996 open game season shall similarly authorise the holder to hunt or kill game in the D’Urville, Waimea/Moutere, Ruataniwha and West Haven Open Game Areas(s).

Definition of Areas

Area A (Paradise shelduck only): That area east and south of the system of roads commonly called the ‘Line Road’, which, from the south is SH No.77 to the Rakaia Gorge and east and north to SH No. 73; thence along SH 73 to the Waimakariri Gorge - Depot Gorge - Oxford Rangiora - Rangiora Woodend Roads to SH No. 1; and south of Woodend Beach Road.

Area B (Paradise shelduck only): The remainder of the Region excluding “area A”.

Area C (Canada goose only): Selwyn and Banks Peninsula local body Districts east of State Highway No. 1 and east of State Highway No. 1 to the Waipara River.

Area D (Canada goose only): The remainder of the Region excluding “area C”.

Area E (Canada goose only): High country for Special Season: The area south, west and north of a line beginning at the Lake Coleridge Hydro Station in the south; along the Lyndon Road to its junction with State Highway 73; then along the Torlesse Range to the Broken River confluence with the Waimakariri River; thence down river to the white posts at Woodstock before following a line north-east to Mt. Thomas; then along a general northerly line to Mt. Whatmo before descending down the Seaward River to its confluence with the Hurunui River; down the Hurunui river to its confluence with the Glenrae River; thence up the Glenrae River to its headwaters and down the Gorge Stream to its confluence with the Waiau River; down the Waiau River to the Grantham River confluence; up the Grantham River to Mt Captain.
