Pelorus River downstream from its confluence with the Rai River all year
Takaka River downstream from its confluence with the Waingaro River all year
Taylor River downstream from the New Renwick Road bridge all year
Waimea or Wairoa Rivers downstream from the confluence with the Lee River all year
Wairau River (including the Diversion) downstream from the Wash Bridge all year
Lake Rotoiti all year
Lake Rotoroa all year
All other waters of the region, except those specified in Section 2 of this schedule 1 October-
30 April incl.
2. Closed Season
No licence holder shall take;
2.1 Sports fish from Brook Stream located in Nelson City;
2.2 Quinnat salmon (Oncorhynchus tshawytscha) in the Wairau River and its tributaries lying upstream of the Wash Bridge or in the Acheron River and its tributaries lying upstream of the Severn confluence or in the Clarence River and its tributaries lying upstream of the Styx confluence;
2.3 Sports fish from Lake Rotoiti or Lake Rotoroa, between 1 May and 30 September, within 100 metres from the centre of the meeting line with the lakes, of the following rivers and streams;
Travellers River
Coldwater Stream
Black Valley Stream
Buller River
Sabine River
D’Urville River
Gowan River
3. Prohibited Tackle
A licenced holder in fishing for sports fish shall not fish from any boat or any floating device, in those parts of Lake Rotoiti and Lake Rotoroa within a radius of 100 m from the centre of the meeting lines of those rivers and streams listed:
Lake Rotoiti—
(a) Travellers River;
(b) Coldwater Stream;
(c) Black Valley Stream;
(d) Buller River;
Lake Rotoroa—
(a) Sabine River;
(b) D’Urville River;
(c) Gowan River.
4. Natural Bait Permitted Waters
Natural bait or natural lure, may be used only in the following waters (excluding tributaries):
Aorere River upstream of the Road Bridge at Rockville
Argyle Pond and the lower hydro canal to its confluence with the Wairau River
Awatere River
Buller River downstream from Gowan Bridge
Clarence River downstream of the Acheron River confluence but including Lake Tennyson
Cobb Reservoir
Conway River
Kaituna River (Havelock)
Lyell Creek (Kaikoura) downstream from State Highway No.1
Maitai River (Junior and Child licence holders only)
Matakitaki River downstream from State Highway No. 6 Bridge
Maruia River downstream of Falls
Middle Creek (Kaikoura) downstream from State Highway No.1
Motueka River downstream from State Highway No. 6 Road Bridge
Oaro River
Opawa River downstream from State Highway No.1 Bridge
Opawa River upstream of State Highway No.1 Bridge (Junior and Child licence holders only)
Pelorus River downstream of its confluence with the Rai River
Rotoiti Lake
Rotoroa Lake
Takaka River downstream from its confluence with the Waingaro River
Taylor River downstream of the New Renwick Road Bridge
Tennyson Lake
Waimea and Wairoa Rivers downstream from the confluence with the Lee River
Wairau River (including the Diversion) downstream from the Wash Bridge
Wangapeka River below Dart River confluence
All other waters are artificial bait, artificial lure or artificial fly.
5. Daily Limit Bag
5.1 No licence holder shall on any day kill or have in possession more than four (4) sports fish, of which not more than two (2) may be salmon, from the following waters (excluding tributaries):
Aorere River downstream of the Rockville Road Bridge;
Buller River downstream of Gowan Bridge;
Cobb Reservoir;
Maruia River downstream of the Falls;
Matakitaki River downstream of the State Highway Six Road Bridge;
Motueka River downstream of the State Highway Six Road Bridge at Kohatu;
Pelorus River downstream of its confluence with the Rai River;
Rai River (not including its tributaries);
Rotoiti Lake;
Rotoroa Lake;
Tennyson Lake;
Waimea River;
Wairau River downstream of the Wash Bridge;
Wangapeka River downstream of its confluence with the Dart River.
5.2 A licence holder shall not on any day kill or be in possession of more than two (2) sports fish in the following waters, (including tributaries) where only one (1) of these fish may exceed 500 mm in length.
Branch River;
