2602 NEW ZEALAND GAZETTE No. 100
In all other waters of the region no licence-holder shall;
a) fish for sports fish with any bait or lure other than artificial fly, or natural fly, spider, insect, or artificial minnow.
b) Use as any lure or bait, any fish ova or any portion of a fish or any shellfish (mollusca), or the freshwater crayfish (koura), or any worm, natural nymph, creeper, larva, or the huhu or matai grub, or bread dough.
c) Fish any water into which any ground bait, berley or other fish attractant has been placed.
Provided that nothing in this section 7 shall apply with respect to any licence-holder fishing for perch in Lake Te Pohue.
- Revocation
The notice published in the supplement to the Gazette, 1993, No. 131, page 2689, titled District Anglers (Hawke’s Bay Fish and Game Region) Notice 1993, and amendment No. 1 to that notice, are hereby revoked.

Henley Lake (Masterton)
Lake Wairarapa
Makakahi River, downstream from the road bridge at Eketahuna
Manawatu River downstream from its confluence with the Mangatainui Stream
Mangahao River downstream from Marima Reserve Bridge
Mangaone River (a tributary of the Tiraumea River)
Mangatainoka River downstream from the junction with the Makakahi River
Rangitikei River downstream from the Mangaohane Bridge
Ruamahanga River
Tauherenikau River
Tiraumea River
Upper Kourarau Dam
Waikanae River
Waingawa River
Waiohine River
Whity Lakes
1.2 All other waters in the region are open for fishing from 1 October to 30 April in the year following.
2. Artificial Fly and Artificial Minnow Only Waters
2.1 No licence holder when fishing for sports fish shall use any lure or bait other than artificial fly in the following waters and all their tributaries:
Hautapu, above the road bridge numbered 741/10.96 on State Highway 1 by the Taihape Golf Club;
Kopuaranga;
Makuri, above the township bridge;
Mangatainoka, above the road bridge on the Hamua-Hukanui Road;
Mangatarei;
Mangatoro;
Wainuiomata, below main township bridge;
Waitohu;
Waipoua, above Miki Miki Bridge
2.2 No licence holder when fishing for sports fish shall use any lure or bait other than artificial fly or artificial minnow in the following waters and all their tributaries:
Rangitikei upstream of the Matauwhero Road bridge (commonly known as the Mangaohane Bridge)
3. Daily Bag Limit

3.4 All other waters | no limit |
4. Size Limit
4.1 There is no minimum size limit for trout or salmon taken in the Wellington Fish and Game region.
4.2 In the Rangitikei River upstream of the Matauwhero Road bridge (commonly called the Mangaohane Bridge), no licence holder shall take or have in his or her possession any trout or salmon which exceeds 550 mm in length.
