2. Closed Waters

No licence holder shall take sports fish from the following waters:

In all rivers, streams and their tributaries which flow into but not including Lake Arapuni, Lake Waipapa, Lake Karapiro and that part of the Waikato River downstream from the Maraetai Dam to above the Karapiro Dam, but does not include the following waters;

Waipapa River and tributaries
Mangawhio Stream and tributaries
Waipa Stream and tributaries
Pokaiwhenua Stream and tributaries
Waikato River

3. Hours of Fishing

All waters no restriction

4. Coarse Fishing

4.1 Fishing Competitions—Rods

A licence holder participating in a fishing competition for perch, tench or rudd may have two assembled rods and running line provided only one of which shall be used for fishing at any one time.

4.2 A roach pole may be used to fish for and take perch, tench or rudd.

5. Fishing Restrictions

5.1 No licence holder shall fish for sports fish from any vessel not securely anchored in that part of the Waikato River between the Arapuni Dam and the upper limits of Lake Karapiro (as shown by the white marker post, situated 200 metres below the Huihuitaha Stream mouth).

6. Artificial Fly Only Waters

6.1 No licence holder when fishing for sports fish shall use any lure or bait other than artificial fly in the following waters and all their tributaries;

Waioira River from its source to the Hunua Falls
Kauaeranga River
Komata Stream
Maratoto Stream from its source to the ford of the old Whangamata track
Kahahu Stream (north-east of Okoroire)
Waipapa River upstream from the first waterfall situated approximately 0.5 km from Lake Waipapa
Mangatuatu Stream from its source to the Leftbridge Road Bridge
Puniu River from its source to the Bayley Road Bridge
Kaniwhaniwha Stream
Ngakoahia Stream from its source to the bridge on Piorongia-Kawhia roadway
Awakino River from its source to the Mahoenui Bridge
Waipa Stream from its source to the Horahora Road Bridge (which is deemed to be the mouth)
Waione Stream
Okauaka Stream

7. Spoonbait, Artificial Minnow or Artificial Fly Only Waters

No licence holder when fishing for sports fish shall use any lure or bait other than spoonbait, artificial minnow or artificial fly in the following waters, rivers, streams and their tributaries excluding any waters specified in sections 6 and 8 of this schedule:

8. Bait Fishing Waters

8.1 No licence holder shall fish for sports fish with any lure or bait other than artificial or natural: - fly, insect, worm, crustacea, minnow, fish (excluding any fish ova or any portion of a fish or any shellfish (mollusca)) in the following waters:

Waikato River
Lake Arapuni
Lake Karapiro
Lake Waipapa
Lake Tomarata
Lake Moananui
Lake Ototoa
Lake Whatihua (Thomsons)
Lake Otamatearoa (Muirs)
Lake Parkinson

Waipa River downstream from Toa Bridge (some 16km upstream from Otorohanga)
Marokopa River downstream from its confluence with the Mangatuahua Stream
Ohinemuri River downstream from the Victoria Street Bridge at Waihi
Waihou River downstream from the Okoroire Falls
Whanganui River downstream from its confluence with the Whakapapa River
Ongarue River downstream from its confluence with the Waimiha Stream
Mokau River downstream from Mulligans Bridge (Honikiwi Road)

8.2 Any licence holder may use any bait (excluding any fish ova or any portion of a fish or any shellfish (mollusca)) in the following waters:

Whangamarino River
Mangawhiri River from the bridge on SH2 to its confluence with the Waikato River

All lakes and ponds, excluding any waters specified in sections 7 and 8.1 of this part of this notice.

8.3 Any licence holder, fishing on any water and participating in a fishing competition for rudd, perch and tench, may with the written authority of the Manager of the Auckland/Waikato Fish and Game Council in the licence holders possession and available for production on demand, use any bait (excluding any fish ova or any portion of a fish or any shell fish (mollusca)) but not otherwise.

9. Daily Bag Limit of Killed Trout or Salmon

9.1 Whakapapa River and its tributaries from its source to the confluence with the:

Piopiotea Stream 2 trout or salmon
Awakino River 2 trout or salmon
All other waters 5 trout or salmon
5 perch, rudd or tench
