- Spoonbait, Artificial Minnow or Artificial Fly Only Waters
No licence holder when fishing for sports fish shall use any lure or bait other than spoonbait, artificial minnow or artificial fly in all rivers, streams and their tributaries excluding any waters specified in sections 6 and 8 of this schedule.
- Bait Fishing Waters
8.1 No licence holder shall fish for sports fish with any lure or bait other than artificial or natural : - fly, insect, worm, crustacea, minnow, fish (excluding any fish ova or any portion of a fish or any shellfish (mollusca)) in the following waters:
Waikato River
Lake Arapuni
Lake Karapiro
Lake Waipapa
Lake Tomarata
Lake Moanau
Lake Ototoa
Lake Whatiwha (Thomsons)
Lake Otamatearoa (Muirs)
Lake Parkinson
Waipa River downstream from Toa Bridge (some 16 km upstream from Otorohanga)
Marokopa River downstream from its confluence with the Mangatawhaua Stream
Ohinemuri River downstream from the Victoria Street Bridge at Waihi
Waihou River downstream from the Okoroire Falls
Whanganui River downstream from its confluence with the Whakapapa River
Ongarue River downstream from its confluence with the Waimiha Stream
Moakurara Stream downstream from Mulligans Bridge (Honikiwi Road)
8.2 In respect to all other lakes, ponds, Whangamarino River and the Mangatawhiri River from the bridge on SH2 to its confluence with the Waikato River, any bait can be used (excluding any fish ova or any portion of a fish, or any shellfish (mollusca)).
8.3 Any licence holder, fishing on any water and participating in a fishing competition for rudd, perch and tench, may with the written authority of the Manager of the Auckland/Waikato Fish and Game Council in the licence holders possession and available for production on demand, use any bait (excluding any fish ova or any portion of a fish or any shell fish (mollusca)) but not otherwise.
- Daily Bag Limit of Killed Trout or Salmon
9.1 Whakapapa River and its tributaries from its source to the confluence with the Piopiotea Stream 2 trout or salmon
Awakino River 2 trout or salmon
All other waters 5 trout or salmon, rudd or tench
9.2 No licence holder shall continue to fish on any day on which he or she has already killed a limit bag.
- Minimum Size
The minimum size for trout or salmon shall be;
Lake Pupuke 22 cm
Lake Moanau 22 cm
Lake Tomarata 22 cm
Lake Ototoa 22 cm
Lake Whatiwha (Thompsons Lake) 22 cm
Lake Otamatearoa (Muirs Lake) 22 cm
Waihou River 22 cm
Waimakariri Stream 22 cm
All other waters 30 cm

1.1 The following waters are open all year (1 October to 30 September in the year following);
all Coastal dune lakes Moawhango River
Hokowhitu Lagoon Ohau River
Hutt River Oroua River
Kawhatau River Otaki River
Henley Lake (Masterton) Pohangina River
Lake Wairarapa Porirua Lakes
Makakahi River, downstream from the road bridge at Eketahuna
Manawatu River downstream from its confluence with the Mangatewainui Stream
Mangahao River downstream from Marima Reserve Bridge
Mangaone River (a tributary of the Tiraumea River)
Mangatainoka River downstream from the junction with the Makakahi River
Rangitikei River downstream from the Mangaohane Bridge
Ruamahunga River Tauherenikau River
Tiraumea River Upper Kourarau Dam
Waikanae River Waingawa River
Waiohine River Whitby Lakes
1.2 All other waters in the region are open for fishing from 1 October to 30 April in the year following.
- Artificial Fly and Artificial Minnow Only Waters
2.1 No licence holder when fishing for sports fish shall use any lure or bait other than artificial fly in the following waters and all their tributaries;
Hautapu, above the road bridge numbered 741/10.96 on State Highway 1 by the Taihape Golf Club;
Kopuaranga;
Makuri, above the township bridge;
