Local Government Act 1974

Levy of Regional Petrol Tax

Pursuant to the powers vested in it by sections 200C and 200D of the Local Government Act 1974, and every other power enabling it in that behalf, The Auckland Regional Council resolved at its meeting held on Monday, the 21st day of August 1995, in respect of a regional petrol tax, that council increase the rate to 1.233 cents per litre excluding G.S.T., with effect from the 23rd day of September 1995.

The regional petrol tax applies over the urban area served by passenger transport in the Auckland region. This area includes the whole of North Shore and Auckland Cities except the Gulf Islands (other than Waiheke Island); Papakura District; the built up area of Waitakere City including Titirangi and Laingholm; Manukau City excluding the Clevedon ward; in Rodney District the areas served by public transport as far as Kaukapakapa and Leigh; and in Franklin District the areas served by public transport as far as Pukekohe and Waiuku.

The area over which the regional petrol tax is to be levied is shown in detail marked on the ARC Auckland Regional Petrol Tax Area Map which is available for inspection at the Transport Department, Auckland Regional Council, Level Three, 21 Pitt Street, Auckland.
