Declaration That Land be Held for Conservation Purposes Together With Declaration That the Land Become Scenic Reserve and Recreation Reserve

Pursuant to section 7 (1A) of the Conservation Act 1987, the Minister of Conservation declares that the land described in the First and Second Schedule hereto is held for conservation purposes and, pursuant to section 8 (1A) of the said Act, declares that the conservation area described in the First Schedule hereto, shall be a scenic reserve, subject to the provisions of section 19 (1) (a) of the Reserves Act 1977, and the conservation area described in the Second Schedule hereto, shall be a recreation reserve, subject to the provisions of section 17 of the Reserves Act 1977.

First Schedule

North Auckland Land District—Rodney District

607.0284 hectares, more or less, being Allotment 15, Tauhoa Parish, situated in Block X, Tauhoa Survey District. New Zealand Gazette, 1887, page 840.

Second Schedule

North Auckland Land District—Rodney District

4.7010 hectares, more or less, being Allotment 276, Tauhoa Parish, situated in Block X, Tauhoa Survey District. S.O. Plan 54507.

Reservation of Land

Pursuant to section 167 of the Land Act 1948, the Minister of Conservation with the consent of the Minister of Lands, hereby sets apart the land described in the Schedule hereto, as a scenic reserve, subject to the provisions of section 19 (1) (a) of the Reserves Act 1977.

Reserves Act 1977

Classification of a Reserve

Pursuant to the Reserves Act 1977, and to a delegation from the Minister of Conservation, the Regional Conservator of the Nelson/Marlborough Conservancy of the Department of Conservation, hereby classifies the reserve described in the Schedule hereto, as a local purpose (river protection) reserve, subject to the provisions of the said Act.

Marlborough Land District—Marlborough District Council

306.3778 hectares, more or less, being a portion of the original bed of the Wairau River situated in Blocks VI, VII, IX and X, Cloudy Bay Survey District, more particularly bounded as follows:

Commencing at the north-easternmost corner of Part Section 126, Wairau West Registration District, thence in a westerly direction along the northern boundaries of the said Part Section 126 and Section 125, Wairau West Registration District, Legal Road, Section 124 and part of Section 122, Wairau West Registration District, Legal Road, part of Section 122, Wairau West Registration District to the north-westernmost corner of the said Section 122, thence south-westerly along the western boundary of the said Section 122 to the north-eastern corner of Section 136, Wairau West Registration District, thence westerly then southerly along the northern and western boundaries of the said Section 136 to the northernmost corner of Section 1, S.O. 7159, thence generally south-westerly along the northern boundary of the said Section 1, to the intersection with Legal Road on the southern bank of the Wairau River, thence generally westerly along the northern boundary of the said Legal Road on the southern bank of the Wairau River, thence northerly, north-easterly then northerly along the eastern boundary to the north-easternmost corner of Legal Road, thence westerly along the northernmost end of the said Legal Road to the north-easternmost corner of Section 120, Wairau West Registration District, thence generally westerly, southerly, then easterly along the northern, western and southern boundaries of the said Section 120 to the intersection with Legal Road, thence south-westerly along the western boundary of Legal Road to the north-easternmost corner of Section 121, Wairau West Registration District, thence generally westerly, southerly, then easterly along the northern, western and southern boundaries of the said Section 121 to the intersection with Legal Road, thence southerly then generally westerly along the northern boundary of Legal Road on the southern bank of the Wairau River to the intersection of the said Legal Road and State Highway No. 6, thence in a north-westerly direction along the eastern boundary of State Highway No. 6 to the intersection with the Middle line of the Wairau River, thence in an easterly direction along the middle line of the Wairau river to the south-easternmost corner of Section 2, S.O. 1650, thence generally north-easterly along the south-eastern boundary of the said Section 2, Section 30, Block VI, Cloudy Bay Survey District then generally easterly along the southern boundary to the south-easternmost corner of Section 11, S.O. 1650, thence in an easterly direction to the intersection with the western boundary of Section 80, Block VII, Cloudy Bay Survey District thence in a south-easterly direction along the western boundary to the southernmost corner of the said Section 80, thence in a south-westerly direction along the northern boundary of Legal Road to the intersection of the easternmost boundary of the said Part Section 126, thence in a north-westerly direction to the north-easternmost corner of the said Part Section 126, the point of commencement.
