| Class of Vehicle | Glazing | Conditions |
|---|---|---|
| Motor cars and goods vehicles other than heavy motor vehicles. | Glazing (other than the windscreen and the glazing attached to, or forming part of, the driver’s door and the front passenger’s door) which allows light transmittance at a rate of less than 35 percent light but greater than zero, and passes coherent light. | The vehicle must be fitted with external mirrors on both sides, and an opaque transverse partition for the full height and full width of the vehicle must be permanently installed between the driver and the glazing specified in the second column. |
| Large passenger services vehicles and heavy motor vehicles with permanent body structures which completely obstruct the driver’s view through the rear window. | Glazing behind the rear of the driver’s seat which allows light transmittance at a rate of less than 35 percent. | The vehicle must be fitted with external mirrors on both sides. |
| Small passenger service vehicles. | Glazing in rear windows to which advertising transfers or other treatments have been applied under a contractual arrangement entered into before 16 February 1995. | The exemption only applies for the term of any contract signed before 16 February 1995. The vehicle must be fitted with external mirrors on both sides. |
