Imprest Supply

Provides for the issue and application of a total not exceeding in the aggregate the sum of $150,000,000 of public money towards the service of the year ending 30 June 1994, and authorises expenses to be incurred in that year.

Appropriation

Provides for the issue and supply of certain sums of public money, and authorises expenses to be incurred in relation to certain classes of outputs and categories of other expenses for the year ending 30 June 1994.

Taxation Reform (Companies And Other Matters)

Provides for the tax consequences of the company law reform package enacted in the Companies Act 1993 and related legislation. To that end it amends the various Taxation Acts, and also the Companies Act 1993.

Also proposes a number of miscellaneous amendments of a mainly minor or technical nature to the Taxation Acts. These appear in Part II and clause 106 of the Bill, and deal mainly with the international tax and provisional tax regimes. They also include anti-avoidance provisions in relation to tax credits. Part VIII contains a tax-related amendment to the Diplomatic Privileges and Immunities Act 1968.

Private Members’ Bills

Reserve Bank of New Zealand Amendment

Seeks to amend the Reserve Bank of New Zealand Act 1989 by repealing and replacing section 8 so as to make it a primary function of the bank to formulate and implement monetary policy that is directed to achieving and maintaining full employment and stability in the general level of prices.

Technology and Crimes Reform

Provides for the Office of Film and Literature Classification to examine and classify images, sounds and live shows produced for pecuniary gain. The bill seeks to create offences and impose penalties for those images, sounds and live shows produced for pecuniary gain that are deemed to be objectionable (as defined by section 3 of the Films, Videos, and Publications Classifications Act 1993).

The bill also seeks to amend the Telecommunications Act 1987 to create offences relating to objectionable telephone services and broadcasts transmitted for pecuniary gain. Also contained are provisions to prohibit telecommunication services whose programmes contain objectionable images or sounds, and for those satellite services to be proscribed by Order in Council.

Eastwoodhill Trust Amendment

Amends the Eastwoodhill Trust Act 1975. That Act established the Eastwoodhill Trust Board which administers an arboretum known as Eastwoodhill. Amends provisions relating to the Board’s membership, meetings, powers and the Scientific Advisory Committee.

Conservation Act 1987

Eastern Fish and Game Region District Anglers Notice 1990, Amendment No. 2

Pursuant to section 26R (3) of the Conservation Act 1987, the Eastern Fish and Game Council amends the Eastern Fish and Game Region District Anglers Notice 1990, supplement to the New Zealand Gazette, 1990, No. 151, pages 3205 to 3206.

  1. Title and commencement—(1) This notice may be cited as the Eastern Fish and Game Region District Anglers Notice 1990, Amendment No. 2 and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Eastern Fish and Game Region District Anglers Notice 1990 (hereinafter referred to as the “principal notice”).

(2) This amending notice shall come into force on the 1st day of July 1994.

  1. Open season—(1) Clause 4 (a) of the principal notice is amended by adding the following new subclause:

(xvi) That part of Lake Rotoma abutting the southern shoreline, between landmarks and extending 100 metres into Lake Rotoma (from the 1st day of July in any year to the 30th day of June in the year next following (both days inclusive)).
