Definition of Areas

Area A: East of main Ruahine and Tararua/Rimutaka ranges, apart from Area C.

Area B: West of main Ruahine and Tararua/Rimutaka ranges.

Area C: South Wairarapa. East of the Rimutaka Range and south of the following boundary: From the summit of the Rimutaka Hill Road east along SH2 to Featherston, east along SH53 to the junction with Kahutara Road, South along Kahutara Road, and the Martinborough - Lake Ferry Road to Lake Ferry.

Area D: Manawatu/Wellington. South and West of the following boundary: From the junction of the Manawatu Gorge and the main divide of the Tararua and Rimutaka Ranges, along the Manawatu Gorge, then along the railway line from Halcombe east to the Manawatu River, then up the Manawatu River to the junction with the Rangitikei River.

Daily Bag Limits

Waterfowl

A composite total of not more than 20 waterfowl being grey, shoveler and mallard duck, paradise shelduck, pukeko, black swan and Canada goose, EXCEPT THAT WITHIN THE TOTAL OF 20 WATERFOWL, THE FOLLOWING SPECIAL BAG LIMITS APPLY:

  • Hen Mallard Duck (All areas) 5
  • Black swan (Area C): 7 May to 15 May 1994 incl., 3
  • Black swan (Area A): 4 June to 31 July 1994 incl., 4
  • Black swan (Area B): 7 May to 3 June 1994 incl., 1
    4 June to 6 June 1994 incl., 3
    7 June to 3 July 1994 incl., 1

Upland Game

  • California quail (all areas), no limit
  • Cock pheasant (all areas), 2
  • Brown Quail, 0, closed season.

Shooting hours: 6.30 a.m. to 6.30 p.m. No restriction 11 February 1995 - 12 March 1995 for the hunting of Canada goose only.

Decoy limit: No limit.

Special Conditions

  1. It shall be an offence to hunt or kill game from any unmoored boat within the Region during the first two days of the open season for game, being Saturday 7 May and Sunday 8 May 1994.

  2. Shooting from camouflagged boats allowed, except opening weekend (7 May - 8 May 1994).

Definition of Areas

Area A: High Country: Kaikoura Land District and that part of the Canterbury Land District which contains the Conway River; the Awatere Catchment and all that land lying south to the boundary of the Kaikoura Land District; the Acheron Catchment; the Waiau Toa River watershed upstream of the Power House on the Waiau River; the Waiau River watershed upstream of its junction with Marchburn Stream and Bartletts Creek.

Area B: Low Country: All that area in the Nelson/Marlborough Fish and Game Region excluding that area defined in Area β€œA”.

Area C: Upland Game: All that area in the Nelson/Marlborough Fish and game region excluding the Waimea and Wairoa rivers up to the junction of the Lee River, and the Wai-iti River up to State Highway No.6 (Wai-iti Bridge), and excluding a 200 metre strip on both banks of these rivers within the said area.

Area D: Waimea: The area contained in the Waimea, Wairoa and Wai-iti Rivers including a 200 metre strip on both banks, as specified in Area C.

Area E: Pheasant: The area west of a line following the Bryant and St Arnaud Ranges and the Spencer Mountains within the Nelson/Marlborough Fish and Game Region.

Area F: Grey Duck: That area west of a line following the Arthur Range to Separation Point; the Buller Catchment.

Area G: Wairua Lagoons: That area defined as all open waters, islands and the peninsular between Chandlers Lagoon and Big Lagoon, south of the Wairau River mouth, including Arapipi Channel, and east of SH1 and north of the White Bluffs.
