Grey, shoveler and mallard duck aggregate limits; 20 in all of which not more than 3 may be Grey and not more than 2 may be Shoveler, except in Area F where the bag limit for Grey Duck is 10. For all other species individual bag limits apply.

Shooting hours: 6.30 a.m. to 6.30 p.m. during May 1994 and 6.45 a.m. to 6.15 p.m. during June 1994, except that during the period 4 June 1994 to 30 April 1995 incl. Canada goose may be hunted or killed 24 hours per day during the specified open season.

Decoy limit: No limit.

Special Conditions

  1. No person shall use or cause to be used for the purposes of hunting or killing game, any fixed stand, pontoon, hide, unmoved camouflage boat or maimai on the Wairau Lagoons, as defined in area G, except above the mean high water level.

  2. Moored camouflaged boats are permitted for hunting or killing game in the Wairau Lagoons, as defined in Area G, but shall not be within 200 metres of any other hunting stand.

  3. There shall be a closed season for Canada goose on the Wairau Lagoons, as defined in Area G from 1 October 1994 until 27 November 1994 inclusive.

Declaring an Open Season for Game in Estuaries and Off shore islands outside the Nelson-Marlborough Fish and Game Region for the 1994 Game Season

An open season is declared, subject to the conditions specified hereto and in the first Schedule, in the following specified areas:

  • D’Urville Island: herein after named the D’Urville Open Game Area and being that area encompassing D’Urville Island in its entirety.

  • Waimea and Moutere Inlets: herein after named the Waimea/Moutere Inlet Open Game Area and being an area that is enclosed between the boundary of the Nelson-Marlborough Fish and Game Region and a line connecting the points on that boundary passing through the western point of Tahananui Beach and Moutere Bluff and Port Motueka.

  • Ruataniwha Inlet: herein after named Ruataniwha Inlet Open Game Area and being an area enclosed between the boundary of the Nelson-Marlborough Fish and Game Region and a line passing through Gibbstown and Taimate Point.

  • Whanganui Inlet: herein after named the West Haven Open Game Area and being an area that is enclosed between the boundary of the Nelson-Marlborough Fish and Game Region and a line connecting the points on that boundary passing through Melbourne Point and Moki Point.

Conditions:

  1. Game may only be hunted in the D’Urville, Waimea/Moutere, Ruataniwha and West Haven Open Game Area(s) in compliance with conditions specified for the Nelson-Marlborough Fish and Game Region 1994 open season for game.

  2. Any licence authorising the holder to hunt or kill game within the Nelson-Marlborough Fish and Game Region for the 1994 open game season shall similarly authorise the holder to hunt or kill game in the D’Urville, Waimea/Moutere, Ruataniwha and West Haven Open Game Areas.

Canada Goose (High country for Special Season): 27 March to 30 April 1995 incl.
California quail: 7 May to 24 July 1994 incl.
Cock pheasant: TOTAL CLOSURE - NO SEASON
Chukar: 7 May to 24 July 1994 incl.

Definition of Areas

Area A: That area east and south of the system of roads commonly called the ‘line road’, which, from the south to SH No.77 to the Rakaia Gorge and east and north to SH No. 73; thence along SH 73 to the Waimakariri Gorge Road junction; and thence along the Waimakariri Gorge - Depot Gorge - Oxford Rangiora - Rangiora Woodend Roads to SH No. 1; and south of Woodend Beach Road.

Area B: The remainder of the Region excluding “area A”.

Area C: Selwyn and Banks Peninsular local body Districts east of State Highway No. 1 and east of State Highway No. 1 to the Waipara River.

Area D: The remainder of the Region excluding “area C”.

Area E: High country for Special Season: The area south, west and north of a line beginning at the Lake Coleridge Hydro Station in the south; along the Lyndon Road to its junction with the West Coast Road; then along the Torlesse and Puketeraki Ranges, down the Seawar River to its confluence with the Hurunui River; down the Hurunui river to its confluence with the Glenrae River; thence up the Glenrae River to its headwaters and down the Gorge Stream to its confluence with the Waiau River; down the Waiau River to the Grantham River confluence; up the Grantham River to Mt Captain.
