California quail: no limit

Cock pheasant: 3

Shooting hours: 6.15 a.m. to 6.15 p.m. except that during the period 20 June to 31 August 1994 inclusive, Canada goose and black swan (areas A1 and A2) may be hunted or killed 24 hours per day in areas A1 and A2 only.

Decoy limit: No limit

Special Conditions

  1. With the exception of freehold waters, it shall be an offence to hunt or kill game from unmoored boats during the opening weekend only, being Saturday 7 May 1994 and Sunday 8 May 1994.

  2. In the Tauranga Harbour, Ohiwa Harbour, Little Waihi Estuary, Lake Aniwhenua and Lake Taupo no maimai shall be erected that will impede the use of navigable channels and waterways of the harbour, estuary or lake.

  3. Maimais erected in the Little Waihi Estuary, Lake Aniwhenua, Ohiwa Harbour, Stump and Waihi bays of Lake Taupo must be dismantled and removed within two weeks of the close of the season (i.e. by 17 September 1994).

Mallard, grey, shoveler duck; an aggregate bag of 15.
Paradise Shelduck, 20.

Area B:
Mallard, grey, shoveler duck, paradise shelduck; an aggregate bag of 15.

Area C:
Mallard, grey, shoveler duck, Paradise Shelduck: an aggregate bag of 15 except that within the aggregate bag a maximum of 10 Paradise shelduck applies.
Pukeko: 10
Canada Goose: Areas A and C: 5
Black Swan: Area D: 1
California Quail: No limit
Brown Quail: No limit
Cock Pheasant: 3.

Special Paradise Shelduck season. The special paradise shelduck season shall be restricted to Areas A and B and that part of Area C bounded by a line commencing at the point where State Highway 3 crosses the Waitotara River thence along State Highway 3 to the boundary of the Taranaki Fish and Game Region. Thence along the boundary to that point where Area A intersects the boundary. Thence along the western boundary of Areas A and B to the point of commencement. 4 March - 19 March 1995 incl. 6.30 a.m. to 7.30 p.m. Daily bag limit: 5.

Definition of Areas:

Area A: That area within the following boundary commencing at Waiaruhe Road. Thence by that road, Owhakura Road, Whangaehu Valley Road and Fields Track to Kakatahi. Thence by straight lines to Pipiriki and Tawhata. Thence by Tawhata Road to the boundary. Thence by the generally eastern boundary of the region to Waiaruhe Road.

Area B: That area within the following boundary commencing at Waiaruhe Road. Thence by that road, Owhakura Road, Whangaehu Valley Road and Fields Track to Kakatahi. Thence by straight lines to Pipiriki and Makakaho Junction down the eastern bank of the Waitotara River to the sea. Thence by the sea coast and generally eastern boundary of the region to Waiaruhe Road.

Area C: The balance of the region contained by the westerly boundaries of Area A and B and the sea coast between the Mokau, and Waitotara, river mouths.

Area D: Those parts of Areas B and C contained by a line commencing at Opunake and following the Opunake-Eltham Road to Eltham. Thence by a straight line to Raetihi. Thence by Ongo Road to the eastern boundary of the region. Thence southerly by that boundary and the sea coast to Opunake.

Area A: Canada Goose in the Hawkes Bay Fish and Game Region may only be hunted or killed in the following area: All that area northwest of a straight line between Potae Peak in the south, passing through Puketitiri to the junction of the Hautapu and Te Hoe streams in the north and extending to the northern boundary of the Region.
