"High speed craft" has the meaning defined in the Ship Construction and Safety Equipment (Code of Practice for New High Speed Craft) Notice 1994;
(b) by inserting after paragraph 1 of the Schedule, the following paragraph:
"1A. Application—This Schedule applies to Existing Ships of Class VIII except such ships which are high speed craft."
(10) The Lifesaving Appliances (Code of Practice for Ships of Class IX) Notice 1989 is hereby amended:
(a) by inserting, in paragraph 1 of the Schedule, after the definition of "Dinghy", the following definition:
"‘High speed craft’ has the meaning defined in the Ship Construction and Safety Equipment (Code of Practice for New High Speed Craft) Notice 1994;
(b) by inserting after paragraph 1 of the Schedule, the following paragraph:
"1A. Application—This Schedule applies to Existing Ships of Class IX except such ships which are high speed craft."
- Consequential amendments to the Fire Appliances Code of Practice—(1) The Fire Appliances (Code of Practice for Ships of Classes I and II) Notice 1989 is hereby amended:
(a) by inserting in paragraph 1 of the Schedule, after the definition of "General Code", the following definition:
"‘High speed craft’ has the meaning defined in the Ship Construction and Safety Equipment (Code of Practice for New High Speed Craft) Notice 1994;
(b) by deleting, in paragraph 2 of the Schedule, the words "or surface effect ships." and substituting the phrase ", surface effect ships or high speed craft".
(2) The Fire Appliances (Code of Practice for Ships of Class III) Notice 1989 is hereby amended:
(a) by inserting in paragraph 1 of the Schedule, after the definition of "General Code", the following definition:
"‘High speed craft’ has the meaning defined in the Ship Construction and Safety Equipment (Code of Practice for New High Speed Craft) Notice 1994;
(b) by deleting, in paragraph 2 of the Schedule, the words "or surface effect ships." and substituting the phrase ", surface effect ships or high speed craft".
(3) The Fire Appliances (Code of Practice for Ships of Classes IV, V and Ships of Class VI less than 45 m) Notice 1989 is hereby amended:
(a) by inserting in paragraph 1 of the Schedule, after the definition of "General Code", the following definition:
"‘High speed craft’ has the meaning defined in the Ship Construction and Safety Equipment (Code of Practice for New High Speed Craft) Notice 1994;
(b) by deleting paragraph 2 of the Schedule and substituting the following paragraph:
"This Code of Practice applies to Ships of Class IV, V, and VI of less than 45 m in length or to Ships of Class IV and V except such ships which are hydrofoil ships, surface effect ships, or high speed craft of 24 m in length or more."
(4) The Fire Appliances (Code of Practice for Ships of Class VI of 45 m in Length and Over) Notice 1989 is hereby amended:
(a) by inserting in paragraph 1 of the Schedule, after the definition of "General Code", the following definition:
"‘High speed craft’ has the meaning defined in the Ship Construction and Safety Equipment (Code of Practice for New High Speed Craft) Notice 1994;
(b) by deleting paragraph 2 of Part I of the Schedule and substituting the following paragraph:
"Part I of this Code of Practice applies to Ships of Classes VII, VIIA and VIII with a gross tonnage of 500 or over except such ships which are high speed craft."
(5) The Fire Appliances (Code of Practice for Ships of Classes VII, VIIA and VIII) Notice 1989 is hereby amended:
(a) by inserting in paragraph 1 of the Schedule, after the definition of "General Code", the following definition:
"‘High speed craft’ has the meaning defined in the Ship Construction and Safety Equipment (Code of Practice for New High Speed Craft) Notice 1994;
(b) by deleting paragraph 2 of Part I of the Schedule and substituting the following paragraph:
"Part I of this Code of Practice applies to Ships of Classes VII, VIIA and VIII with a gross tonnage of 500 or over except such ships which are high speed craft."
(6) The Fire Appliances (Code of Practice for Ships of Class IX) Notice 1989 is hereby amended:
(a) by inserting in paragraph 1 of the Schedule, after the definition of "General Code", the following definition:
"‘High speed craft’ has the meaning defined in the Ship Construction and Safety Equipment (Code of Practice for New High Speed Craft) Notice 1994;
(b) by deleting paragraph 2 of Part I of the Schedule and substituting the following paragraph:
"Part I of this Code of Practice applies to Ships of Class IX of 45 m in length or over with a gross tonnage of 500 or over except such ships which are high speed craft."
- Consequential amendments to the Ship Construction Codes of Practice—(1) The Ship Construction (Code of Practice for Ships not Required to Comply with the Safety Convention) Notice 1989 is hereby amended:
(a) by adding, in paragraph (b) of clause 3 of the Notice, after the words "other than a hydrofoil ship or surface effect ship of Class II, III, and VI", the words "or high speed craft of Class II, III, VI and VIII";
(b) by adding, in paragraph (c) of clause 3 of the Notice, after the words "other than a hydrofoil ship or surface effect ship of Class IV and V", the words "or high speed craft of Class IV and V of 24 m length or more or high speed craft of Class IX with gross tonnage of 500 or more."
(c) by inserting, in paragraph 1 of the Schedule, after the definition of "Freeboard deck", the following definition:
"‘High speed craft’ has the meaning defined in the Ship Construction and Safety Equipment (Code of Practice for New High Speed Craft) Notice 1994;
(2) The Ship Construction (Code of Practice for Ships Required to Comply with the Safety Convention) Notice 1989 is hereby amended:
(a) by adding, in paragraph (a) of clause 3 of the Notice, after the words "of Class I", the words "other than a high speed craft";
(b) by adding, in paragraph (b) of clause 3 of the Notice, after the words "gross tonnage or more", the words "other than a high speed craft";
(c) by adding, in paragraph (c) of clause 3 of the Notice,
