Radio Regulations 1987

Radio Regulations (General Licence for Citizen Radio Apparatus) Notice 1993

Pursuant to regulation 11 of the Radio Regulations 1987 ("the principal regulations"), acting under delegated authority from the Secretary of Commerce, I hereby give the following notice:

Notice

  1. Short title and commencement—(1) This notice may be cited as the Radio Regulations (General Licence for Citizen Radio Apparatus) Notice 1993.

    (2) This notice shall come into force on the 1st day of April 1993.

  2. General licence—A general licence under regulation 11 of the principal regulations is hereby granted in respect of the installation, operation, and use, by persons in New Zealand, for the purpose of communication with one another over short distances, of radio apparatus intended for the transmission and reception of radiocommunications within New Zealand on frequencies between 26.30 MHz and 26.80 MHz.

  3. Terms, conditions and restrictions—(1) The frequencies available for use under this licence shall be those specified in the Schedule to this notice.

    (2) The following technical conditions apply:

    Designation of Emissions:
    2K80J3EJN—SSB (Single-sideband, suppressed carrier); or
    2K80R3EJN—SSB (Single-sideband, reduced carrier); or
    6K00A3EJN—DSB (Double-sideband)

    Maximum Power:
    SSB 12 watts peak envelope power (pX)
    DSB 4 watts carrier power (pZ)

    (3) This licence applies only to apparatus which complies with technical specification RFS23 (Issue 3, December 1988) and in respect of which a Certificate of Compliance (Type Approval or Type Acceptance) has been issued by the Secretary.

    (4) Operators of radio apparatus pursuant to this licence shall, during transmissions, clearly identify themselves. The Secretary may, on request of an operator, provide a suitable callsign.

  4. Period of Validity of Licence—This licence shall expire on 31 March 1998.

  5. Consequential revocation of licences—Citizen Radio Station Licences and Citizen Radio Apparatus Licences granted under the principal regulations on or after the 1st day of January 1988, and before the close of the 31st day of March 1993 are hereby revoked.
