Direction on Wool Test Certification, Amendment No. 1
This amendment to the “Direction on Wool Test Certification” is made by the New Zealand Wool Board (“the Board”) pursuant to its authority contained in section 21 (1) of the Wool Industry Act 1977 (“the Act”).
The Board hereby directs that from 5 August 1993, Addendum No. 1 to the Direction on Wool Test Certification dated 29 March 1990 shall be deleted and replaced with the following.

Where certified results/test certificates are supplied or displayed in connection with the offering of wool for sale in New Zealand or for export overseas the Board authorises the following Tests and associated Sampling Procedures, Test Methods and Certificate Format Recommendations.
Testing of Wool
1. Sampling
(a) Grab sampling.
(b) Manual core sampling.
(c) Machine core sampling.
(d) Subsampling staples from grab samples.
(e) Hand sampling scoured wool.
2. Conditioning
(a) Standard laboratory atmosphere.
(b) Methods of Tests for Textiles- Conditioning Procedures Method A, B, C, D.
3. Fibre Diameter
(a) Determination of wool fibre diameter by the projection microscope.
(b) Mean fibre diameter by airflow method.
4. Wool Yield
(a) Yield/wool base plus vegetable matter.
5. Colour
(a) Colour.
6. Staple Length and Staple Strength
Determination of mean staple length and staple strength.
7. Scoured Wool Tests
(a) Condition testing.
Testing of Wool
(b) Residual grease testing.
(c) Vegetable matter and other alkali-insoluble impurities in scoured wool.
(d) Ash content.
(e) Ethyl-alcohol extractables.
(f) Method for the measurement of the fibre length after carding of scoured wool.
8. Additional Parameters
(a) Determination of percentage of medullated fibres by projection microscope.
(b) pH of water extract.
9. Matching and Interlotting of Wool
(a) Combined certificate for yield and fineness.
(b) Combined certificate for colour.
(c) Objectively matched interlots.
10. Certification
(a) Format of IWTO certificate.
(b) Requirements for the issue of test certificates for raw wool.
(c) Requirements for the issue of test certificates for scoured and carbonised wool.

Pursuant to Part VI of the Privacy Act 1993 (hereinafter referred to as “the Act”) the Privacy Commissioner gives notice as follows—
Citation
- This notice may be cited as the Privacy Act Code of Practice Notice 1993/1.
Issue of Code of Practice
- The Health Information Privacy Code of Practice 1993 (Temporary):
(a) Was issued on the Privacy Commissioner’s own initiative on 30 July 1993; and
(b) Shall come into force on 10 August 1993; and
(c) Shall, unless revoked earlier by the Privacy Commissioner, expire on 30 June 1994.

- The Privacy Commissioner, considering that it is necessary to issue the code of practice and being satisfied
