Bylaw Fixing the Maximum Speed of Vehicles on
Part of State Highway 7: Totara Flat (RP 224/
5.09—RP 224/6.20)
Pursuant to section 61 (2) of the Transit New Zealand Act and
section 72 (1) (j) of the Transport Act 1962, Transit New
Zealand makes the following bylaw:
Bylaw
(i) This bylaw may be cited as Transit New Zealand Bylaw
1992/6.
(ii) This bylaw shall come into effect immediately.
(iii) In this bylaw “motor vehicle” has the meaning assigned to
it in section 2 (1) of the Transport Act 1962.
(iv) No person shall drive any motor vehicle at a speed
exceeding 80 kilometres an hour on that part of State
Highway 7 (Waipara-Greymouth via Lewis Pass, i.e. from
No. 1 State Highway at Waipara to the Cobden Bridge at
Greymouth) from a point 160 metres measured generally
northeast of its junction with Granville Road to a point 950
metres generally southwest of its junction with Granville Road.
(v) Every person who commits an offence against this bylaw is
liable upon summary conviction to a fine not exceeding $500.
This bylaw was made under delegated authority from the
Transit New Zealand Authority.

Declaring Land to be Held for Conservation
Purposes
Pursuant to section 7 (1) of the Conservation Act 1987, the
Minister of Conservation and the Minister of Forestry being the
Minister responsible for the Department of State that has
control of the land described in the Schedule hereto, jointly
declares that the land is held for conservation purposes.

6290.0000 hectares, more or less, being Section 1, S.O.
36750, situated in Blocks XIV, XV and XVI, Ruapehu Survey
District and Blocks II, III, IV, VI and VII, Kariol Survey

and all New Zealand Gazette, 1953, page 1. Includes a former
ecological area as specified in New Zealand Gazette, 1977,

Redefining Purposes of a Maori Reservation
In the notice issued on the 27th day of May 1992 and
published in New Zealand Gazette, 4 June 1992, No. 81, page
1569 amend the area in the Schedule from “436 square
metres” to read “4366 square metres”.
