Te Kura Kaupapa Maori O Bernard Fergusson
Pursuant to sections 146 and 155 of the Education Act 1989, the Minister of Education hereby gives the following notice:
Notice

This notice may be cited as Te Kura Kaupapa Maori O Bernard Fergusson.

This notice shall come into force on the 1st day of February 1993.

I hereby designate Bernard Fergusson School as a kura kaupapa Maori.

Aims, purposes and objectives of Te Kura Kaupapa Maori O Bernard Fergusson:
(i) Me whakahoki te mana ki nga tamariki me nga matua tupuna.
To give effective authority to those who wish this type of education for their children.
(ii) Through the medium of te reo Maori, to provide a turangawaewae for students in their knowledge of tikanga Maori, Tainuitanga, and other tribal areas.
(iii) To focus on a Maori perspective in areas of the curriculum such as science, social studies, art, culture and health. -
Constitution of the board of trustees—The board of trustees of Te Kura Kaupapa Maori O Bernard Fergusson shall comprise:
(i) 5 elected parent representatives;
(ii) 4 co-opted community members;
(iii) the principal;
(iv) a staff representative.

Te Kura Kaupapa Maori O Otepou

This notice shall come into force on the 1st day of February 1993.

I hereby designate Otepou School as a kura kaupapa Maori.

Aims, purposes and objectives of Te Kura Kaupapa Maori O Otepou:
(i) To use te reo Maori as the principal language of instruction.
(ii) To produce pupils who are bilingual and biliterate.
(iii) To provide a supportive, caring environment which respects the children’s culture, rights and individuality.
(iv) To utilise and focus on the resources of the community.
(v) To link with local marae and participate in community events that will enhance learning.
(vi) To instil confidence in operating in two New Zealand cultures. -
Constitution of the board of trustees—The board of trustees of Te Kura Kaupapa Maori O Otepou shall comprise:
(i) 7 elected parent representatives;
(ii) the principal;
(iii) a staff representative.
