At Wellington this 7th day of September 1992
Present:
HER EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL
Whereas—
(a) The next triennial general election of members of local authorities is due to be held on the 10th day of October 1992; and
(b) Section 12 (4) of the Local Elections and Polls Act 1976 requires that nomination papers and consents in respect of candidates at that triennial election be lodged with or given to the Returning Officers not later than noon on the 28th day of August 1992 (which was nomination day); and
(c) The nomination papers and consents in respect of the candidates described in the Schedule to this order were, as a consequence of adverse weather conditions, lodged with the appropriate Returning Officers after the time required by section 12 (4) of the Local Elections and Polls Act 1976; and
(d) It is desirable that the lodging or giving, after the time required by that section of that Act, of the nomination papers and consents in respect of the candidates described in the Schedule to this order be validated:
Now, therefore, pursuant to section 122 of the Local Elections and Polls Act 1976, Her Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby makes the following order.
Order
- Title and commencement—(1) This order may be cited as the Local Authorities Elections (Late Nominations) Validation Order 1992.
(2) This order shall come into force on the day after the date of its publication in the Gazette.
- Validation of late lodgement of nomination papers and consents—The lodging or giving, after the time required by section 12 (4) of the Local Elections and Polls Act 1976, of nomination papers and consents in respect of the candidates described in the Schedule to this order (being nominations and consents given for the purposes of the triennial general election of members of local authorities that is due to be held on the 10th day of October 1992) is hereby validated.

Pursuant to section 119 of the Law Practitioners Act 1982, notice is hereby given that on the 8th day of June 1992, the New Zealand Law Practitioners Disciplinary Tribunal ordered as follows:

That the name of the practitioner, Maurice Henry Coughlan, be struck off the roll of Barristers and Solicitors of the High Court of New Zealand.

That the practitioner be censured.

That the practitioner pay to the New Zealand Law Society the sum of $1,084.00, in respect of the costs and expenses of and incidental to the inquiry by the Tribunal.

That the practitioner pay to the Southland District Law Society the sum of $4,614.00 in respect of the costs and expenses of and incidental to the inquiry by its Council.
