(i) The Awakino River downstream from the Mahoenui Bridge;

(ii) The Maramatataha River;

(iii) The Ongarue River from its source to the confluence with the Waimiha Stream;

(iv) The Waimiha Stream;

(v) The Wanganui River from its source to its confluence with the Whakapapa River;

(vi) The Whakapapa River and its tributaries.

(3) Subject to subclause (1) and (2) of this clause, no licence holder shall fish for sports fish with any lure or bait other than artificial or natural fly, insect, worm, crustacea, minnow, fish excluding any fish ova or any portion of a fish or any shellfish (mollusca), in the following waters:

(i) All rivers and springs and streams not specified in subclauses 1 & 2 of clause 6 and excluding the Whanganui River and the Mangatawhiri river from the bridge on State Highway 2, to its confluence with the Waikato River;

(ii) Lake Moanatu;

(iii) Lake Tomarata;

(iv) Lake Ototoa;

(v) Lake Whatihua (Thomsons Lake);

(vi) Lake Otamatearoa (Muirs Lake);

(vii) Lake Parkinson;

(viii) Lake Arapara;

(ix) Lake Karapiro;

(x) Lake Waipapa.

(4) In respect to all waters not specified above, any bait can be used, excluding any fish ova or any portion of a fish or any shellfish (mollusca).

(5) In respect to all waters a licence holder participating in a fishing competition for rudd, perch and tench, may with the written authorization of the Manager of the Auckland/Waikato Fish and Game Council in the licence holders possession and available for production on demand, use any bait, excluding any fish ova or any portion of a fish or any shellfish (mollusca) but not otherwise.

(6) No licence holder when fishing for sports fish shall use—

(a) More than 2 lures or baits.

(b) Any lead or weight attached below or so as to hang below any lure or bait.

(c) In any water in which only artificial fly is permitted, any lead or weight other than the necessary weight of line, cast and fly, accepting that artificial fly includes any lure of feather, fur, wool or other material of any kind customarily used in the making of artificial flies, but does not include any lure in the tying of which any lead or other weight has been incorporated unless the hook used in that lure does not exceed 20mm in length (exclusive of the eye) and the gape of the hook does not exceed 7mm and the hook is not larger than No. 8 (Redditch or old scale).

(d) Any bait or lure treated with any medicinal or chemical preparation other than—

(i) In the case of artificial fly, oil used solely to give buoyancy to such flies;

(ii) In the case of natural baits, a formalin or other preservation preparation.

(e) On any lure or bait a hook which has a greater distance than 14mm between the point and the nearest portion of the shank.

(f) Use as a lure or bait any fish taken from any water other than that in which it is used as a lure or bait.

(g) Any double or treble hook or any fixed assembly of hooks.

(h) Any unsportsmanlike device or method.

  1. Daily Limit Bag—(1) No licence holder shall on any one day take or have in his possession more than a total of 2 trout taken from the following waters—

(i) Awakino River.

(2) In respect to all other waters no licence holder shall on any one day take or have in his possession, more than 5 trout or salmon.

(3) No licence holder shall continue to use a rod and running line to take trout or salmon on any day on which he has already taken or killed a limit bag.

(4) No licence holder shall on any one day kill more than 5 perch, tench or rudd.

  1. Minimum size to be taken—(1) No licence holder shall take or have in his possession any trout or salmon which does not exceed 22cm taken from the following waters—

(i) Lake Pupuke;

(ii) Lake Moanatu;

(iii) Lake Tomarata;

(iv) Lake Ototoa;

(v) Lake Whatihua (Thomsons Lake);

(vi) Lake Otamatearoa (Muirs Lake);

(vii) Lake Parkinson;

(viii) The Waihou River and its tributary the Waimakariri Stream.

(2) In respect to all other waters except those waters specified in sub clause 1 of this clause no licence holder shall take or have in his possession, any trout or salmon which does not exceed 30cm in length.

(3) Every licence holder taking a trout or salmon which does not exceed the specified length shall immediately return it, whether it is alive or dead, with as little injury as possible, into the water from which it was taken.

  1. Revocation—The notice published in the supplement to Gazette, No. 151 of Thursday, 30th August 1990, on pages 3202–3205 titled District Anglers (Waikato Fish and Game Region) Notice 1990, and its amendment No. 1 are hereby revoked.

District Anglers (Taranaki Fish and Game Region) Notice 1991, Amendment No. 1.

Pursuant to section 26R (3) of the Conservation Act 1987 (as amended by section 17 of the Conservation Law Reform Act 1990), the Taranaki Fish and Game Council amends the District Anglers (Taranaki Fish & Game Region) Notice 1991, supplement to the New Zealand Gazette, 1991, No. 129, page 2787.

  1. Title and commencement—(1) This amending notice may be cited as the District Anglers (Taranaki Fish and Game Region) Notice 1991, Amendment No. 1, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the District Anglers (Taranaki Fish and Game Region) Notice 1991 (hereinafter referred to as the “principal notice”).

(2) This amending notice shall come into force on the 1st day of October 1992.

  1. Open Season—(1) Clause 3(5)(b) of the principal notice is amended to read as: “(b) Lake Ratapiko, except the inlet race;”, deleting the words “as shown by signboards”.
