Cancellation of the Setting Apart of Specially Protected Areas, Sinbad Gully and Secretary Island, Fiordland National Park

Pursuant to section 12 of the National Parks Act 1980, Her Excellency the Governor-General acting with the advice and consent of the Executive Council hereby cancels the setting apart of the land described in the Schedule hereto as specially protected areas.

Schedule

Southland Land District—Southland District

Sinbad Gully

All that area of land in Fiordland National Park, containing 2160 hectares, more or less, and bounded by a line commencing at the mouth of Sinbad Gully Stream on the south-western shore of Milford Sound, and proceeding northerly generally along the shore to a point 300 metres distant from the point of commencement; thence north-westerly generally along the ridge forming the watershed between Sinbad Gully and Milford Sound, passing through Foolstool Mountain, to Mitre Peak; thence westerly and southerly generally along the northern and western watersheds of Sinbad Gully, to the Mountain, height 1694.6 metres; thence easterly by a right line to the northern-most of the Lawrenny Peaks; thence south-easterly along the southern watershed of Sinbad Gully, passing through Mount Phillips, to the shore of Milford Sound, thence northerly to the point of commencement (New Zealand Gazette, 1974, page 665).

Secretary Island

All that area of land in Fiordland National Park known as Secretary Island, containing approximately 8980 hectares and bounded as follows: on the north-east by Thompson Sound; on the south-east by Doubtful Sound, and on the north-west by the Tasman Sea (New Zealand Gazette, 1973, page 1827).

Corrigendum

Revocation of the Appointment to Control and Manage Part of a Reserve and Revocation of the Reservation Over Part of a Reserve

In the notice with the above heading published in the New Zealand Gazette, 16 July 1992, No. 110 at page 2453, in the Schedule amend “Allotment 709, Waitakere Parish” to read “Allotment 709, Waikomotu Parish”.

Declaration That Land is a Reserve

Pursuant to the Reserves Act 1977, and to a delegation from the Minister of Conservation, the Regional Conservator, Auckland Conservancy of the Department of Conservation hereby notifies that the following resolution was passed by the North Shore City Council on the 6th day of August 1991:

“That, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by section 14 of the Reserves Act 1977, The North Shore City Council hereby resolves that the piece of land vested in the said city and described in the Schedule hereto, shall be, and the same is hereby declared to be a reserve for recreation purposes within the meaning of the said Act”.

2.1400 hectares, more or less, being Lot 1, L.T. 140386, situated in Block VI, Rangitoto Survey District. Part certificate of title 24D/851. Subject to A. 256160, A. 256162, A. 256165 and A. 333335 certifying the line of a trunk sewer.

Change of the Classification of a Reserve

Pursuant to the Reserves Act 1977, and to a delegation from the Minister of Conservation, the Regional Conservator, Auckland Conservancy of the Department of Conservation hereby changes the classification of the reserve, described in the Schedule hereto, from a recreation reserve to a local purpose (museum building) reserve, subject to the provisions of the said Act.

Revocation of a Declaration that Land shall be Protected Private Land

Pursuant to the Reserves Act 1977, and to a delegation from the Minister of Conservation, the Regional Conservator for the Auckland Conservancy, Department of Conservation, hereby revokes the notice published in the New Zealand Gazette, 18 December 1975, No. 114, page 3009, declaring that the private land, described in the Schedule hereto, shall be protected private land for scenic purposes.
