25 JANUARY NEW ZEALAND GAZETTE

(i) To provide an education for children from a continuous total immersion Maori language background.

(ii) The school will aim to produce fully bilingual and bicultural children.

(iii) The school will embrace Te Aho Matua o Nga Kura Kaupapa Maori.

(iv) The school will nurture a Kohanga Reo environment and tribes.

(v) The school will encourage relationships with local marae and tribes.

(vi) All staff of the school will have an acceptable level of fluency in the Maori language and must be able to uphold the character of the school.

(vii) The Board of Trustees will encourage the whanau to participate in the operation of the school.

(viii) The school will encourage all parents and caregivers to involve themselves in the school and all of its activities.

  1. Constitution of the Board of Trustees—The Board of Trustees of Te Kura Kaupapa Maori o Manawatu shall comprise:

    (a) 5 people appointed by the Minister; and
    (b) The principal or principal designate; and
    (c) Not more than 4 persons co-opted by the Board.

Te Kura Kaupapa Maori O Waipareira 1990

Pursuant to sections 146 and 155 of the Education Act 1989 (as inserted by section 14 of the Education Amendment Act 1989), the Minister of Education hereby gives the following notice:

N o t i c e

  1. This notice may be cited as the Te Kura Kaupapa Maori O Waipareira.

  2. This notice shall come into force on the day of its publication in the Gazette.

  3. I hereby establish at Archibald Road, Auckland, a primary school called Te Kura Kaupapa Maori Waipareira and I hereby designate the school as a Kura Kaupapa Maori.

  4. Aims, purposes and objectives of Te Kura Kaupapa Maori O Waipareira.

Together with the use of Te Reo Maori as the principal language of instruction the following aims, purposes and objectives constitute the character of Te Kura Kaupapa Maori O Waipareira:

(i) To secure and nurture “te tino rangatiratanga”.

(ii) To enhance the learning needs of Kura Kaupapa Maori children as valued taonga of their iwi, hapu and whanau.

(iii) To develop pride in the language and culture of Maori children.

(iv) To produce success-oriented bilingual and bicultural citizens of Aotearoa.

(v) The school will embrace Te Aho Matua o Nga Kura Kaupapa Maori.
  1. Constitution of the Board of Trustees—The Board of Trustees of Te Kura Kaupapa Maori o Waipareira shall comprise:

    (a) 5 people appointed by the Minister; and
    (b) The principal or principal designate; and
    (c) Not more than 4 persons co-opted by the Board.

  3. I hereby establish at the corner of Parres Cross and West Coast Road, Auckland, a primary school called Te Kura Kaupapa Maori O Hoani Waititi and I hereby designate the school Kura Kaupapa Maori.

  4. Aims, purposes and objectives of Te Kura Kaupapa Maori O Hoani Waititi.

Together with the use of Te Reo Maori as the principal language of instruction the following aims, purposes and objectives constitute the character of Te Kura Kaupapa Maori O Hoani Waititi:

(i) The transmission of the body of knowledge, values and beliefs unique to Maoridom.

(ii) The transmission of this body of knowledge by those who are recognised within Maoridom as having the proper knowledge, expertise and credentials.

(iii) To encourage co-operation and responsibility within the whanau.
  1. Constitution of the Board of Trustees—The Board of Trustees of Te Kura Kaupapa Maori O Hoani Waititi shall comprise:

    (a) 5 people appointed by the Minister; and
    (b) The principal or principal designate; and
    (c) Not more than 4 persons co-opted by the Board.

  2. This notice shall come into force on the day of its publication in the Gazette.

  3. I hereby establish at 55–59 Alexander Crescent, Otara, Auckland, a primary school called Te Kura Kaupapa Maori O Piripono Te Kura Whakahauh Ki Otara and I hereby designate the school as a Kura Kaupapa Maori.

  4. Aims, purposes and objectives of Te Kura Kaupapa Maori O Piripono Te Kura Whakahauh Ki Otara.

Together with the use of Te Reo Maori as the principal language of instruction the following aims, purposes and objectives constitute the character of Te Kura Kaupapa Maori O Piripono Te Kura Whakahauh Ki Otara:

(i) To provide the extended education platform from Te Kohanga Reo beginnings.

(ii) To promote an education that fulfils aspirations that Maori people have set as vital to the retention and further enhancement of Maori culture.
  1. Constitution of the Board of Trustees—The Board of Trustees of Te Kura Kaupapa Maori O Piripono Te Kura Whakahauh Ki Otara shall comprise:

    (a) 5 people appointed by the Minister; and
    (b) The principal or principal designate; and
