Revocation of the Reservation Over a Reserve and Specifying the Manner of Disposal

Pursuant to the Reserves Act 1977 and to a delegation from the Minister of Conservation, the Director of Estate Protection Policy, Department of Conservation, hereby revokes the reservation as a local purpose (esplanade) reserve over the land described in the Schedule hereto and further declares that the land may be transferred by the Marlborough District Council to Port Marlborough (NZ) Ltd. for amalgamation with Lot 1, D.P. 7721.

Classification and Naming of a Reserve

Pursuant to the Reserves Act 1977, and to a delegation from the Minister of Conservation, the Regional Conservator of the Tongariro/Taupo Conservancy hereby classifies the reserve described in the Schedule hereto, as a scenic reserve, and further, declares that the said reserve shall hereafter be known as the Wharekawa Scenic Reserve.

Corrigendum

Setting Apart Maori Freehold Land as a Maori Reservation

In the notice issued on the 7th day of June 1989 and published in the New Zealand Gazette on 15 June 1989, No. 102, page 2613, amend the description of the land in the Schedule from “Pursuant to section 439 of the Maori Affairs Act 1953, the Maori freehold land described in the Schedule hereto, is hereby set apart as a Maori reservation for the purpose of a family marae, housing and recreational and the preservation of the whare wananga and former burial sites for the common use and benefit of the descendants of Samuel William Prime and Erana Prime” to read “Pursuant to section 439 of the Maori Affairs Act 1953 the general lands described in the Schedule hereto, are hereby set apart as a Maori reservation for the purpose of a family marae, housing and recreational and the preservation of the whare wananga and former burial sites for the common use and benefit of the descendants of Samuel William Prime and Erana Prime”.

Declaring Maori Freehold Land to be Excluded from a Maori Reservation

Pursuant to section 439 (5) (a) of the Maori Affairs Act 1953, the Maori freehold land described in the Schedule hereto, is hereby declared to be excluded from the existing Maori reservation known as Whanganamu 1A constituted by order in council, dated the 10th day of March 1982 and published in the New Zealand Gazette, No. 183, page 3638 of 3 November 1983.

Redefining Purposes of a Maori Reservation

Notice is hereby given that pursuant to section 439 (5) (c) of the Maori Affairs Act 1953, the purposes for which the Maori reservation was in respect of the land described in the Schedule hereto, created by notice in New Zealand Gazette, 14 July 1983, No. 101, page 2180, are hereby redefined to provide for a marae site in addition to the present use as an urupa and place of historical interest for the common use and benefit of all Maori people in the district.
